Prismatic Evolutions: the Pokémon set explained
Pokémon's Prismatic Evolutions set: its 180 cards, Eevee ex and its eight Evolutions, the Poké Ball and Master Ball cards, and what each product holds.
By the Rip.fan Editorial Team.
Published 7 min readPrismatic Evolutions is an expansion in Pokémon’s Scarlet & Violet series, out since January 17, 2025. It is built around Eevee and its eight Evolutions, which all appear as Stellar Tera Pokémon ex. The set has 180 cards: 131 inside the printed total and 49 numbered above it. Two features set it apart. It brought in premium parallel cards with a Poké Ball or a Master Ball etched in the background, and it has no booster display: its packs came in boxes and collections released from January to September 2025.
When did Prismatic Evolutions come out?
On January 17, 2025, the date Pokémon gave on November 1, 2024, when it said retailers worldwide would carry the set, Pokémon Center among them. Its set code is PRE.
In Japan, a set led by the same Eevee family came first. Our guide to Japanese Pokémon sets pairs Prismatic Evolutions with Terastal Festival ex (SV8a), a high class pack of 10 cards at a suggested ¥550. It came out December 6, 2024. The two sets differ in size: the Japanese set has 237 cards against 180 for the English one.
How many cards are in Prismatic Evolutions?
- Cards 001 to 092 are Pokémon, and 093 to 131 are Trainer cards. Everything above 131 is a secret rare, a card numbered past the printed total.
| Rarity | Cards | Numbers |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 46 | Within 001 to 127 |
| Uncommon | 33 | Within 002 to 130 |
| Rare | 21 | Within 005 to 080 |
| Double rare | 25 | Within 006 to 092 |
| ACE SPEC rare | 6 | Within 116 to 131 |
| Ultra rare | 12 | 132 to 143 |
| Special illustration rare | 32 | 144 to 175 |
| Hyper rare | 5 | 176 to 180 |
The 25 double rares are 10 Pokémon ex and 15 Tera Pokémon ex; the 6 ACE SPEC rares are Trainers; the 12 ultra rares are all Supporters; the 32 special illustration rares are Pokémon ex and Supporters; and the 5 hyper rares are gold etched Pokémon ex.
Rip.fan’s page for the set uses the same eight rarities.

Does Prismatic Evolutions have illustration rares?
No. Its ultra rares come first above the printed total, then 32 special illustration rares, the most of any set counted in our guide to illustration rares. The set is packed with them, including a Palafin ex drawn by manga artist Tetsuo Hara. Of the 32, 26 show Pokémon ex and 6 show Supporter cards.
The 12 ultra rares are all full-art Supporters, and the 5 gold hyper rares are Iron Leaves ex, Teal Mask Ogerpon ex, Walking Wake ex, Pikachu ex and Terapagos ex. None of the five is an Eevee family card.
Which Eevee cards are in the set?
Nine Pokémon ex: Eevee ex and the eight Pokémon it evolves into. Each appears exactly twice, once as a double rare inside the printed total and once as a special illustration rare above it.
| Pokémon ex | Double rare | Special illustration rare |
|---|---|---|
| Leafeon ex | 006 | 144 |
| Flareon ex | 014 | 146 |
| Vaporeon ex | 023 | 149 |
| Glaceon ex | 026 | 150 |
| Jolteon ex | 030 | 153 |
| Espeon ex | 034 | 155 |
| Sylveon ex | 041 | 156 |
| Umbreon ex | 060 | 161 |
| Eevee ex | 075 | 167 |
The numbers run in the set’s own order, so Leafeon ex comes first and Eevee ex last. Each also has a regular card numbered just before its ex: Eevee is a common at 074, and each of the eight Evolutions is a rare, such as Vaporeon at 022 and Umbreon at 059.
What are the Poké Ball and Master Ball cards?
Premium parallels: foil versions of the set’s commons, uncommons and rares, with a Poké Ball or a Master Ball pattern that shows as the card is tilted. Pokémon calls the Poké Ball version rare and the Master Ball version even rarer.
- A Poké Ball version for all 100 commons, uncommons and rares: the 67 Pokémon and the 33 Trainer cards among them.
- A Master Ball version for the 67 Pokémon only, with none for the Trainers.
- A standard reverse holofoil for the same 100 cards as well.
- No reverse holofoil, Poké Ball or Master Ball version for the double rares, the ACE SPEC rares or anything above 131.
Counting those printings alone, a full list runs to 447: the 180 cards, plus 100 standard reverse holos, 100 Poké Ball and 67 Master Ball versions, by Rip.fan’s arithmetic. A few other printings, such as stamped versions, are not in that count. Set trackers count a master set in different ways, and our guide to completing a Pokémon set shows how one tracker’s total for this set works out. Our guide to card finishes covers the foils themselves.

How do you check Prismatic Evolutions card prices?
Rip.fan’s Pokémon price pages include a page for Prismatic Evolutions that lists the set’s cards with number, rarity and NM market price. Filter the set’s page to special illustration rares to see the 32 cards from 144 to 175 together, or sort it by number to read the list in order. Because one common or rare here can exist in several printings, the card price lookup is the better tool for a single card: search by name, set or number, and it names the printing behind each price. The price changes page tracks moves between Rip.fan’s weekly checks.
These are past market prices for ungraded cards, and they say nothing about the future. Before paying to grade a card from the set, read our guide to whether a card is worth grading; the centering checker converts border widths into a centering split.
What should you check before buying?
- The number. A special illustration rare sits between 144 and 175, and a hyper rare between 176 and 180. A listing that calls a card one of these with a number inside 131 does not match the list.
- The printing. A common, uncommon or rare can be a regular card, a standard reverse holo, a Poké Ball version or, for a Pokémon, a Master Ball version. Each is a separate card with its own price.
- The product. Pack counts should match the product’s contents. This set has no booster display, so a box sold under that name needs checking against the maker’s own products first. For the seal, read our guide to spotting resealed Pokémon packs.
- Authenticity. Our guide to spotting fake Pokémon cards lists checks that do no damage.
