Market price

A market price is a price built from recent sales rather than asking prices. TCGplayer's market price is one; Rip.fan's card pages show Scrydex's Near Mint market price.

In more detail

TCGplayer describes its Market Price as the value of a collectible based on actual recent sales, averaged across several recent transactions. It leans on what items have sold for instead of what sellers are asking, and it sets aside outliers that would distort a simple low, mid and high scale.

Rip.fan's card price pages show a Near Mint market price from Scrydex, our card data provider. A market price describes a card in one condition, so a lower condition has a lower price, and a graded copy is a separate item.

Market prices are estimates and they lag. They are built from sales that already happened, so a fast move in demand shows up late. Use them to set a range and check against recent comps for the exact card you are buying.
