In the sets from Journey Together on, a Pokémon Elite Trainer Box holds 9 booster packs of one set, one full-art promo card, 65 card sleeves, a stack of Energy cards, a guide to the set and a storage box with dividers. The Pokémon Center edition of those sets holds 11 packs and a second copy of the promo, that one with the Pokémon Center logo. The contents have barely moved from set to set. The boxes from Mega Evolution (September 2025) to Pitch Black list 40 Energy cards and 6 dividers where the Journey Together and Destined Rivals boxes listed 45 and 4, and the 30th Celebration box holds 16 foil Basic Energy cards instead.

What is in an Elite Trainer Box?

Pokémon pitches the box as a little of everything for a new set: packs, accessories, a full-art promo, sleeves and Energy cards. For Pitch Black, released in July 2026, the standard box holds:

  • Cards: 9 booster packs of the set, one full-art foil promo (Zarude in this set) and 40 Energy cards
  • Protection and storage: 65 card sleeves, and a storage box with 6 dividers
  • Extras: a guide to the set, a few small accessories and a code card for Pokémon’s online app

Each Pitch Black pack holds 10 cards and a Basic Energy card. So the packs in one box give 90 cards and 9 Basic Energy, by Rip.fan’s arithmetic, before you count the 40 Energy cards loose in the box. A booster pack of 30th Celebration is smaller: 5 foil cards and a foil Energy card per pack, so that set’s box gives 45 cards and 9 Energy from its packs.

What did each recent box hold?

Every box below holds 9 packs and 65 sleeves, and every Pokémon Center edition holds 11 packs.

The 30th Celebration box is the odd one out. TCGplayer says every card in the set is foil, and the box holds 16 foil Basic Energy cards, where the boxes from Mega Evolution to Pitch Black hold 40 Energy cards.

What changed between Destined Rivals and Mega Evolution?

Set the Destined Rivals list beside the Mega Evolution list and three lines differ:

  1. Energy cards went from 45 to 40.
  2. Dividers went from 4 to 6.
  3. The small accessories changed: two plastic markers in the Destined Rivals box became a single plastic piece in the Mega Evolution box.

The pack count, the 65 sleeves, the single promo and the set guide stayed the same. Every Mega Evolution series box from Mega Evolution to Pitch Black repeats the new list. Black Bolt and White Flare (July 2025) came out between the two.

Which sets have an Elite Trainer Box?

All 14 Scarlet & Violet series expansions checked, from Scarlet & Violet (March 31, 2023) to Destined Rivals, have both a standard Elite Trainer Box and a Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box. Scarlet & Violet itself has Koraidon and Miraidon versions of each. The six Mega Evolution series sets from Mega Evolution to Pitch Black do the same.

For a special set, the box matters more. Packs from special expansions like 151 come in products such as the Elite Trainer Box and the Ultra-Premium Collection, rather than in booster displays. Our guide to Pokémon booster boxes shows which recent sets had a booster display and which did not.

How does the Pokémon Center edition differ?

For each of the eight sets in the table above, the Pokémon Center edition holds:

  • 11 packs instead of 9. That is 110 cards and 11 Basic Energy from the packs, by Rip.fan’s arithmetic, in a set with 10-card packs.
  • A second copy of the promo. Both are full-art foil cards of the same Pokémon, and one carries the Pokémon Center logo.
  • Everything else unchanged. The sleeves, Energy cards, dividers, guide and accessories match the standard box line for line.

Pokémon’s September 2026 article says the same of the 30th Celebration edition, which it calls exclusive: 11 packs, two more than usual, and two Nidorina promos, one with the Pokémon Center logo. Our guide to Pokémon Center exclusives covers how the edition used to differ and what else that shop sells, and our guide to promo cards explains the logo copy.

Is a Delta Reign box coming?

Pokémon Center’s table of estimated preorder ship dates, last updated in October 2026, lists a Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box for the Delta Reign set of the Mega Evolution series, in the US, Canada and the UK, with an estimated ship date of early November 2026. The same row lists the set’s Booster Bundle and booster display box. Those are estimates, and the table says dates can move.

What does an Elite Trainer Box cost?

TCGplayer’s article of August 26, 2026 lists a suggested retail price (MSRP) of $49.99 for the 30th Celebration box and $59.99 for its Pokémon Center edition. Check the seller’s own page for the price on the day you buy; our guide to buying Pokémon cards at MSRP covers where each price comes from.

What should you check before buying one?

  1. The pack count. For these sets, nine packs means the standard box and 11 the Pokémon Center edition; a listing that claims anything else does not match Pokémon’s pages. Boxes from 2022 differ, as our guide to Pokémon Center exclusives explains.
  2. The promo. In these sets, the Pokémon Center edition should hold two copies, one with the logo.
  3. The seal. An Elite Trainer Box is sealed product, bought for what is inside. Our guide to spotting resealed Pokémon packs covers wraps and seams.
  4. The set. Contents differ slightly by year, so match the box to the row above.

Our guide to Pokémon sealed products sets the box beside Booster Bundles, blisters and collections, and how to store sealed product covers keeping a box sealed. Once the packs are open, Rip.fan’s Pokémon price pages list each card in a set with its rarity, and the Pokémon hub collects the rest of our coverage.
