Tarkir: Dragonstorm, set code TDM, reached stores on April 11, 2025, following its Prerelease events. Wizards pitches it as a bigger, bolder Tarkir built around its clans and a new wave of dragons. The set has 451 entries, a total that lists some cards twice, and 422 printings of 276 different cards.
When did Tarkir: Dragonstorm come out?
| What | Date |
|---|---|
| Story previews | March 3 to 17 |
| Set debut and card previews | March 18, with previews through March 28 |
| Prerelease events | April 4 to 10 |
| Set release | April 11, 2025 |
Tarkir: Dragonstorm came after Aetherdrift, which Wizards released on February 14, 2025. One companion set shares the same April date: Tarkir: Dragonstorm Commander (TDC), with 411 cards and its own code. For the full calendar, see our Magic set release dates guide.
How many cards are in Tarkir: Dragonstorm?
The total of 451 is a count of entries, and 29 collector numbers carry two of them. Marang River Regent (51), Bloomvine Regent (136) and Purging Stormbrood (213) show why: each has a second half, marked Omen, under the same number. Marang River Regent’s Omen half is called Coil and Catch. 13 numbers in the first stretch carry two entries, and 16 later printings repeat those cards. Subtract the 29 extra entries and 422 printings remain.
The numbers run from 1 to 426. They fall into these stretches:
| Collector numbers | Printings | Cards |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 271 | 271 | 271 different cards, with 22 lands at 250 to 271 |
| 272 to 276 | 5 | One of each basic land |
| 277 to 291 | 15 | Basic lands again, three more of each type |
| 292 to 376 | 85 | Repeats of cards from earlier numbers |
| 377a to 382b | 12 | Six earlier cards, each listed as an a and a b printing |
| 383 to 408 | 26 | More repeats, including four Mythic Rare printings at 400 to 408 |
| 419 to 426 | 8 | More repeats, including Mox Jasper at 419 |
There is no plain 377 to 382 and no 409 to 418. The six lettered cards are Clarion Conqueror, Marang River Regent, Scavenger Regent, Magmatic Hellkite, Bloomvine Regent and Ugin, Eye of the Storms.
No card makes its first appearance above 276: anything numbered higher repeats a card already listed lower down. 166 cards have a single printing, 82 have two, 20 have three and 8 have four, those eight being the five basic lands, Ugin, Clarion Conqueror and Magmatic Hellkite.
What rarities are in Tarkir: Dragonstorm?
Rarity totals count both halves of a two-part card. Counted by card name:
| Rarity | Search total | Cards by name | At that rarity at their first number, 1 to 271 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 86 | 81 | 81 |
| Uncommon | 105 | 100 | 100 |
| Rare | 63 | 60 | 60 |
| Mythic Rare | 24 | 24 | 20 |
| Land | 15 | 15 | 10 (the five basics sit at 272 to 276) |
The names add up to 280, four more than the 276 cards, because four cards appear at two rarities. In each case the Mythic Rare printing sits between 400 and 408:
| Card | First number and rarity | Mythic Rare printing |
|---|---|---|
| Clarion Conqueror | 5, Rare | 400 |
| Sarkhan, Dragon Ascendant | 118, Rare | 403 |
| Narset, Jeskai Waymaster | 209, Rare | 407 |
| Skirmish Rhino | 224, Uncommon | 408 |
The same card, then, can sit at two rarities depending on the printing. Of the 22 lands at 250 to 271, ten carry the Land rarity, Bloodfell Caves and Tranquil Cove among them. The symbols themselves are covered in our Magic card rarities guide.
How does that compare with other 2025 sets?
Three 2025 sets side by side:
| Aetherdrift (DFT) | Tarkir: Dragonstorm (TDM) | Edge of Eternities (EOE) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Released | February 14, 2025 | April 11, 2025 | August 1, 2025 |
| Total | 543 | 451 | 374 |
| Printings by collector number | 543 | 422 | 374 |
| Different cards | 276 | 276 | 266 |
| Common, Uncommon, Rare and Mythic Rare cards at their first number | 81, 100, 60, 20 | 81, 100, 60, 20 | 81, 100, 60, 20 |
| Land-rarity cards other than the five basic lands | 10 | 10 | None |
| Cards at two rarities | 3 | 4 | 5 |
Leave aside the Land-rarity cards and the three sets carry an identical mix of 261 cards. What sets Tarkir: Dragonstorm apart is its two-part cards, the reason its total runs 29 above its printings. It shares the ten extra Land-rarity cards with Aetherdrift, so both end their first stretch at 276. See our Aetherdrift and Edge of Eternities guides for the other two.
Which special treatments does Tarkir: Dragonstorm have?
Three: Draconic frames, Dragonscale Foil fetch lands and Ghostfire cards.
There are also 500 serialized Mox Jasper cards, available only in Tarkir: Dragonstorm Collector Boosters. They are printed in English only but turn up in Collector Boosters of any language. Mox Jasper appears three times in TDM, at 246, 325 and 419, each a Mythic Rare with a different artist. Our Magic foil types guide covers foil finishes, and the serial-numbered and alternate art entries explain those two terms.
What products is Tarkir: Dragonstorm sold in?
Five products make up the lineup: Collector Boosters, Play Booster packs, a Prerelease Pack, Commander Decks and a Bundle. Confirm the pack count of a display box on the box’s own label. Wizards’ general figures for each kind of product apply across sets:
| Product type | Cards of rare or higher | Foil and special cards |
|---|---|---|
| Play Booster | At least 1 | At least 1 foil card |
| Collector Booster | 5 to 6 | 8 to 10 foil cards or more, with showcase, borderless and extended-art cards |
| Commander Deck | At least 10 new Rares and Mythic Rares | 2 traditional foils, a thick foil-etched display card and a Collector Booster sample pack of 2 special treatment cards |
Bundles are packed with Play Booster packs and come with one foil alternate-art promo card.
Our Magic Collector Boosters guide compares the premium pack with the main one, and the Play Booster and Collector Booster entries give short definitions. Any booster box counts as sealed product, so check that the factory wrap is unbroken.
What should you check before you buy?
- TDM or TDC. The main set and the Commander cards have separate lists, so a listing titled only “Tarkir: Dragonstorm” could be either. Get the code and collector number in writing.
- Anything numbered 400 to 408. Four cards there are Mythic Rare printings of cards that start lower on the ladder, so look for the rarity symbol in the photos.
- An a or a b. Treat 377a and 377b as two separate printings, and expect the listing to say which one it is.
- Factory wrap on sealed product. Our guide to storing sealed product explains how to keep it that way after you buy.
How do you check Tarkir: Dragonstorm card prices?
Not on Rip.fan: its card price lookup and price pages hold English Pokémon cards only. Work from sold listings instead, in this order:
- Match TDM and the collector number first. Clarion Conqueror at 5 and Clarion Conqueror at 400 sell as different printings.
- Confirm the rarity of that exact printing, since four cards here move up the ladder at a later number.
- Compare foil with foil, and Dragonscale foil only with Dragonscale foil.
- Use sold prices with dates, not asking prices. Our Magic card price guide, our guide to finding what a card sold for and our guide to spotting fake Magic cards cover each step.
