Magic set release dates for 2026 and 2027
Every Magic set of 2026 and each dated set of 2027, with release dates from Wizards of the Coast, the weeks between them and the sets still undated.

Magic has seven sets in 2026. On October 11, 2026, six were out: Lorwyn Eclipsed on January 23, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on March 6, Secrets of Strixhaven on April 24, Marvel Super Heroes on June 26, The Hobbit on August 14 and Reality Fracture on October 2. Star Trek follows on November 13, 2026. For 2027, four sets have dates so far, starting with Nauctis on February 5.
What are the 2026 Magic release dates?
Wizards sorts its sets into two kinds. Magic Multiverse sets take place in Magic’s own worlds. Universes Beyond sets are built on other franchises, such as Marvel and Star Trek. Wizards puts the first kind in its main group of set releases and the second in a group of its own.

Wizards puts Magic: The Gathering in front of each Universes Beyond name, as in Magic: The Gathering | The Hobbit. The tables here use the short names.
Seven sets is one more than usual. When Wizards first showed the 2026 lineup on September 26, 2025, it called the extra set “a bit of a scheduling quirk” and said 2027 would go back to six.
Did each set arrive when Wizards first said?
Yes. That September 2025 article gave Lorwyn Eclipsed its exact date and the other six sets a month each: March, April, June, August, October and November. Every one of them was later dated inside the month first announced. So a month in an early announcement has, for 2026 at least, been a reliable guide to the final date.
What are the 2027 Magic release dates?
Wizards set out its 2027 plans on July 17, 2026. It said the year would bring three sets of each kind, with the two kinds taking turns. By October 11, 2026, four had dates:

Darkhold Destiny is the newest addition. Wizards announced it on October 10, 2026, with a story written together with Marvel, and said it was already open for preorder.
The other two Universes Beyond sets had no name or date as of October 11, 2026. If the two kinds keep taking turns, one would fall between Kamigawa: Titanbreach and Zhalfir, and one after Zhalfir. Until Wizards prints a date for those two sets, treat any date you see as a guess.

What patterns show in the dates?
Three:
- Fridays only. Every date above falls on a Friday, from January 2025 to October 2027.
- Six to nine weeks apart. From Tarkir: Dragonstorm in April 2025 to Star Trek in November 2026, each set came 6 to 9 weeks after the one before.
- Longer gaps at two of the three year ends. Aetherdrift came 13 weeks after Foundations, the last set of 2024, and Nauctis comes 12 weeks after Star Trek. Lorwyn Eclipsed, at the turn of 2025 to 2026, came only 9 weeks after Avatar: The Last Airbender. The 17 weeks before Zhalfir is the widest gap so far, and it may be split once Wizards dates the missing sets.
These are past dates and announced ones, and they promise nothing about future calendars.
When can you open a new set before release day?
At a prerelease event near you, held in the days before the release date. Two 2026 windows:
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: February 27 to March 5, with the release on March 6.
- The Hobbit: events starting August 7, a week before the August 14 release.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles window closes the day before release. Times vary by store, so check with the store hosting the event.
What changes to Magic boosters come with the 2027 sets?
On October 5, 2026, Wizards renamed its main booster the Booster Pack, and its notice to stores ties the new name to Nauctis. It also announced changes to what Booster Packs and Collector Boosters hold, starting with Nauctis. Wizards said none of the changes came with a price change. Has any product been dropped from the calendar?
One. On September 21, 2026, Wizards canceled the Star Trek Beginner Box in every region, citing delays in production, logistics and shipping. It said no other Star Trek product was affected, and Wizards’ Star Trek product page lists a November 13 release. Anyone who preordered the box was told to contact the store or retailer they ordered from.
How do you check a Magic release date?
- Start with Wizards’ product listing. It lists released sets, Universes Beyond sets and upcoming sets, each with a date.
- Read the announcement. Wizards published a lineup article for 2026 and another for 2027, and each set has its own announcement or product page with the date.
- Treat other dates as guesses. A preorder listing or a fan calendar is not a release date until Wizards’ pages match it.
- Read early months as months. Wizards has named a month first and the day later, as it did for six of the 2026 sets.

Wizards finished the full card image gallery on January 9, 2026 for Lorwyn Eclipsed, released January 23, and on July 18, 2025 for Edge of Eternities, released August 1.
What set codes do the sets from Edge of Eternities to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles use?
Edge of Eternities is EOE, Marvel's Spider-Man SPM, Avatar: The Last Airbender TLA, Lorwyn Eclipsed ECL and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TMT. Some sets' Commander cards carry a code of their own, such as EOC for Edge of Eternities and ECC for Lorwyn Eclipsed.
When was the Reality Fracture prerelease?
From September 25 to October 1, 2026, before its October 2 release.
