Lorwyn Eclipsed went on sale in stores on January 23, 2026, under the set code ECL. It opened Wizards of the Coast’s 2026 schedule and took Magic back to Lorwyn and Shadowmoor, one plane split between endless day and endless night. The set has 417 entries, yet it holds 273 different cards over 398 collector numbers. Two-faced cards, which get one entry per face, explain the gap between entries and numbers; reprints at higher numbers explain the rest.

When did Lorwyn Eclipsed come out?

Set release, in stores January 23, 2026

By Rip.fan’s arithmetic, Lorwyn Eclipsed came 9 weeks after Avatar: The Last Airbender (November 21, 2025) and 6 weeks before Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (March 6, 2026). Our Magic set release dates guide covers the rest of the calendar.

The story follows a group of Strixhaven students through the plane, and Seanan McGuire wrote the main story. The creature types of the two worlds include kithkin, boggarts, merfolk, elves and elementals.

Why does Lorwyn Eclipsed have 417 entries?

Each face of a two-faced card gets its own entry, numbered with an a and a b. Nineteen of the set’s collector numbers carry two faces, so 398 numbers plus 19 second faces gives 417.

Those 19 numbers hold two kinds of card:

  • Seven double-faced cards, which fill 14 of the numbers because each is printed twice: first at 7, 13, 61, 76, 105, 124 or 199, and again at 285 to 291. Each has a different name on each face, such as Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight at 13, and Ashling, Rekindled // Ashling, Rimebound at 124.
  • Five lands at 347 to 351: Hallowed Fountain, Steam Vents, Blood Crypt, Overgrown Tomb and Temple Garden. Each of these has two faces with the same name. The same five lands appear at 262 and 265 to 268 with one face.

Counting each two-faced card once, the set holds 273 different cards. When you look up a double-faced card, search under both names.

How is Lorwyn Eclipsed numbered?

Grouped by collector number:

Collector numbers Printings What is there
1 to 268 268 Every card except the basic lands, with the seven double-faced cards among them
269 to 273 5 The five basic lands
274 to 283 10 The basic lands again, two more of each
284 to 291 8 Ajani, Outland Chaperone and the seven double-faced cards again
292 to 296 5 Catharsis, Deceit, Emptiness, Vibrance and Wistfulness again
297 to 346 50 Repeats of earlier cards
347 to 351 5 The five lands named above, with two faces each
352 to 381 30 Repeats, including Bitterbloom Bearer at 352
382 to 391 10 Repeats: six cards that are Rare at their first number and Mythic Rare here, and four that are Mythic Rare at their first number
392 to 401 none No entries
402 to 408 7 Repeats, ending with Harmonized Crescendo at 408

No card first appears above 273, so every higher number reprints a card from the main run. 166 cards have one printing, 90 have two, 16 have three and one has four: Harmonized Crescendo, at 54, 357, 384 and 408.

What rarities are in Lorwyn Eclipsed?

Rarity Cards in ECL At that rarity at their first number, 1 to 273
Common 81 81
Uncommon 100 100
Rare 65 65
Mythic Rare 28 22
Land 5 5 (the basic lands)

The first column comes to 279, six more than the 273 cards. Those six are Rare at their first number and Mythic Rare at a second, all between 382 and 391:

Card Rare printing Mythic Rare printing Other printings
Winnowing 43 382 355
Glen Elendra Guardian 51 383 305
Harmonized Crescendo 54 384 357 and 408
Bloodline Bidding 91 385 359
Collective Inferno 132 387 363
Selfless Safewright 193 391 367

The other four cards at 382 to 391 are Mythic Rare at their first number. Only the five basic lands are rated Land; Hallowed Fountain and the other four lands named above are Rare at 262 and 265 to 268. Our Magic card rarities guide shows each rarity symbol.

Which special versions did Lorwyn Eclipsed bring?

  • Serialized Bitterbloom Bearer. There are 500 serialized versions, in a borderless showcase treatment illustrated by Rebecca Guay, and only in Collector Boosters. Serialized cards come in English only. Our serial-numbered card entry explains how numbered runs work.
  • Japan showcase cards. Collector Boosters are the only way to open them.
  • Throwback cards. Cards that recall the original Lorwyn block with classic art.
  • Full-art lands, found in Collector Boosters.

For how the foil finishes differ, see our Magic foil types guide.

What products came out for Lorwyn Eclipsed?

The lineup includes:

  • Collector Boosters, holding foils, full-art lands, rares and mythic rares, and the only source of the Japan showcase cards and the serialized card. Across all sets, a Collector Booster holds 5 to 6 cards of rare or higher and 8 to 10 foil cards or more.
  • Play Boosters, with a foil card in every pack. Each also holds at least one card of rare or higher.
  • Bundle: a promo card, foils, a themed small accessory and nine Play Boosters.
  • Commander Decks: two decks. The ECC set has 170 entries.
  • 60-Card Theme Decks: decks of 60 cards, sold in two versions.
  • Prerelease Pack: a foil promo card, Play Boosters and a small accessory.

Our Play Booster and Collector Booster entries and our Magic Collector Boosters guide explain the two pack types.

How does Lorwyn Eclipsed compare with its neighbors?

The four sets of late 2025 and early 2026 compare like this:

Spider-Man Avatar Lorwyn Eclipsed TMNT
Code SPM TLA ECL TMT
In stores September 26, 2025 November 21, 2025 January 23, 2026 March 6, 2026
Entries 300 414 417 300
Collector numbers 285 394 398 300
Different cards 193 286 273 195
Numbers with two faces 15 20 19 0

Lorwyn Eclipsed has the most entries of the four but fewer different cards than Avatar, because more of its numbers repeat an earlier card: 125 against Avatar’s 108. Each set has its own guide: Marvel’s Spider-Man, Avatar and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

What should you check before you buy?

  • ECL or ECC. The Commander cards have their own code, so a listing should say which.
  • Both names on a double-faced card. Search under each face’s name.
  • The rarity symbol on 382, 383, 384, 385, 387 and 391. Those six cards are Mythic Rare there and Rare at their first number.
  • The number on Hallowed Fountain and the other four lands. Each appears at two numbers, and only the later one has two faces.
  • The language on a serialized card. Only English copies are serialized.
  • Factory wrap on any booster box or other sealed product; see our guide to storing sealed product.

How do you check Lorwyn Eclipsed card prices?

Rip.fan’s card price lookup and price pages hold English Pokémon cards only. For a Lorwyn Eclipsed card, start from the code and collector number: Harmonized Crescendo is Rare at 54 and Mythic Rare at 384. Then take only dated sold listings for that printing, finish and language. Our guides to checking Magic card prices, finding what a card sold for and spotting fake Magic cards cover the method, and the seller fee calculator shows what TCGplayer and Whatnot leave you after fees. The trading card hub gathers the rest of our Magic coverage.
