Collector Booster

A Collector Booster is Magic: The Gathering's premium pack, built around foils, alternate art and special card treatments. It holds several rare or mythic rare cards and costs much more than a Play Booster pack.

In more detail

Wizards of the Coast keeps Collector Boosters apart from its main packs. A pack is made up of foils, alternate-art versions and special frames such as borderless, full-art and retro, and some sets add serialized cards. You can expect several rare or mythic rare cards in each one.

Retailer listings show a Collector Booster box holding 12 packs, against 30 or 36 in a Play Booster box depending on the set, at a far higher price. The cards inside are mostly the showiest versions of the set's popular cards.

Read the set's own description before you buy, because the make-up changes from set to set. A card in a special frame is a different printing from the standard card, so match the listing to the exact version.
