Wilds of Eldraine went on sale in stores on September 8, 2023, under the set code WOE. The set is a trip back to Eldraine, Magic’s fairy-tale plane, this time away from its castles and out into the wild woods. The set has 453 entries, which are 281 different cards on 381 collector numbers. Its products came out before Wizards folded Draft and Set Boosters into one pack.
When did Wilds of Eldraine come out?
| What | Date |
|---|---|
| First look | July 28, 2023 |

| Card image gallery complete | August 25 |
| Prerelease events | September 1 to 7 |

The two Commander decks went on sale the same day as the set. The next set, The Lost Caverns of Ixalan, followed in November 2023; our Lost Caverns of Ixalan guide explains why Rip.fan gives only the month. Our Magic set release dates guide covers 2026 and 2027.
Why are there 453 entries for 381 numbers?
Because 72 of the 381 collector numbers hold a card with two parts, and each part gets its own entry. Besotted Knight at number 4, for example, is listed once under that name and once as Betroth the Beast, its second half. So 381 numbers plus 72 second parts makes 453. Adventure cards return in this set, Cruel Somnophage (222) among them.
The 72 numbers hold 51 different two-part cards. Fifty first appear between 4 and 241, and one, Intrepid Trufflesnout, first appears at 320. The other 21 numbers are later printings of cards already listed. At their first number, 14 of the 51 are Common, 17 Uncommon, 13 Rare and 7 Mythic Rare. When you look one up, search under either name and check the collector number.
How is Wilds of Eldraine numbered?
Collector numbers run from 1 to 381 with no gaps. Grouped by collector number:
| Collector numbers | Printings | Cards |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 261 | 261 | 261 different cards, from Archon of the Wild Rose at 1 to Restless Vinestalk at 261 |
| 262 to 266 | 5 | Basic lands, one of each type |
| 267 to 276 | 10 | Basic lands again, two more of each type |
| 277 to 296 | 20 | Two-part cards again, such as Cruel Somnophage (first at 222, again at 286) |
| 297 to 307 | 11 | More repeats, among them Ashiok, Wicked Manipulator, Talion, the Kindly Lord and the five Restless cards from 257 to 261 |
| 308 to 322 | 15 | 15 cards seen nowhere earlier: 10 Uncommons and 5 Rares |
| 323 to 369 | 47 | Repeats of earlier cards, Moonshaker Cavalry (21 and 325) among them |
| 370 to 374 | 5 | The five Rares from 308 to 322 again |
| 375 to 381 | 7 | Seven more repeats, Expel the Interlopers among them |
Ashiok, Restless Fortress and Talion come in borderless versions, and each of those appears a second time inside 297 to 307 (at 297, 305 and 301).
Which cards have the most printings?
189 cards have one printing, 84 have two and 8 have three. The eight are the five basic land types, Expel the Interlopers (13, 324 and 381), Lich-Knights’ Conquest (96, 338 and 380) and Kellan, the Fae-Blooded (230, 291 and 298), a two-part card.
What rarities are in Wilds of Eldraine?
Rarity counts list each card once, at its first collector number, so these are counts of cards:
| Rarity | Cards in WOE | First numbered 1 to 266 | First numbered 308 to 322 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 101 | 101 | None |
| Uncommon | 90 | 80 | 10 |
| Rare | 65 | 60 | 5 |
| Mythic Rare | 20 | 20 | None |
| Land | 5 | 5, the basics at 262 to 266 | None |
The second column adds up to 281, the same as the number of different cards, so no card turns up under two rarities. What each rarity symbol looks like is covered in our Magic card rarities guide.
What are Enchanting Tales?
An extra sheet of cards with its own code, WOT. The cards are enchantments fans loved from Magic’s past, redrawn with storybook art in Eldraine’s style, and every Wilds of Eldraine booster holds one. There are 63 different Enchanting Tales:
- WOT has 83 entries on numbers 1 to 83.
- Numbers 1 to 63 hold 63 different cards: 18 Uncommons, 30 Rares and 15 Mythic Rares.
- Numbers 64 to 83 repeat 20 of those cards. Doubling Season sits at 52 and again at 81.
What special versions are there?
| Version | What it is | Example card |
|---|---|---|
| Showcase adventure frame | The storybook frame returns, and some adventure cards also come in a showcase version | Cruel Somnophage |
| Borderless | Borderless versions of some cards, two of them shown with nightmare art | Ashiok, Wicked Manipulator and Restless Fortress |
| Extended art | A regular and an extended-art version of the same card | Moonshaker Cavalry |
| Anime art | Anime-style art, in Japanese and English versions | An Enchanting Tale |
| Confetti foil | A foil new with this set, found only in Collector Boosters | Rhystic Study, an Enchanting Tale |
| Showcase basic lands | Special versions of all five basic lands | Plains through Forest |
Our Magic foil types guide sets Confetti foil beside the other named foils.

- Starter Kit: two 60-card decks and a guide.
No Jumpstart Boosters came out with this set. Our Collector Booster entry and Magic Collector Boosters guide cover that pack type in depth.
How do these packs differ from a Play Booster?
With the set released on February 9, 2024, under the code MKM, Wizards combined Set and Draft Boosters into a new pack, the Play Booster. Wilds of Eldraine came before the change, so a sealed WOE booster box holds Draft, Set or Collector Boosters. These general figures for each pack type apply across all sets:
| Pack type | Cards of rare or higher | Foils |
|---|---|---|
| Draft Booster | At least 1 | Traditional foil cards in 1 of every 3 packs |
| Set Booster | 1 to 4 | At least 1 foil card, plus an art card in every pack |
| Collector Booster | 5 to 6 | 8 to 10 foil cards or more |
| Play Booster, from February 2024 | At least 1 | At least 1 foil card |
Our guides to Outlaws of Thunder Junction and Modern Horizons 3 cover two 2024 releases sold in Play Boosters.
How does Wilds of Eldraine compare with The Lost Caverns of Ixalan?
The two 2023 sets side by side:
| Wilds of Eldraine (WOE) | The Lost Caverns of Ixalan (LCI) | |
|---|---|---|
| Total | 453 | 465 |
| Collector numbers | 1 to 381 | 1 to 409 |
| Different cards | 281 | 291 |
| Numbers holding two entries | 72, for 51 cards | 56, for 36 cards |
| Cards that first appear above the basic lands | 15 | None |

| Pack types | Draft, Set and Collector | Draft, Set and Collector |
What should you check before you buy?
- WOE, WOC or WOT. The Commander cards and the Enchanting Tales have their own codes and lists, so a listing should give the code and the collector number.
- Both names. A two-part card is listed under two names, and some have two or three printings.
- The pack type. A Draft Booster box and a Set Booster box hold different packs, so read the label.
- Factory wrap. Any box is sealed product; our guide to storing sealed product explains how to keep it that way.
How do you check Wilds of Eldraine card prices?
Rip.fan’s card price lookup and price pages do not include Magic; they list English Pokémon cards only. For a Wilds of Eldraine card, start from the code and the collector number, because one name can cover two or three printings. Then look only at sold listings for that exact printing and finish, foil against foil, and note the date of each sale. Our guides to checking Magic card prices and finding what a card sold for set out the method, and our guide to spotting fake Magic cards covers the checks before you pay.
To see what a sale leaves you after fees on TCGplayer or Whatnot, use the seller fee calculator. The trading card hub gathers every Magic set guide.
Frequently asked questions
Why does Wilds of Eldraine have Jumpstart cards when no Jumpstart Boosters came out?
Wizards designed 10 uncommons and 5 rares for Jumpstart Boosters, then kept them in the set as a one-time step once those boosters were dropped. All 15 can turn up in Set Boosters, and Collector Boosters carry the 5 rares in non-foil extended art.
Who made the Wilds of Eldraine full-art storybook basic lands?
Hari & Deepti, whose art for the 5 lands shows real light boxes the artists built.
How many anime Enchanting Tales are in Wilds of Eldraine?
20: 15 mythic rares and 5 rares, drawn by Japanese artists, with 1 rare and 3 mythic rares for each color.
What are the 2 Wilds of Eldraine Commander Decks?
Fae Dominion, in blue and black, and Virtue and Valor, in green and white. Each deck holds 8 non-foil rares made for it, a foil-etched display commander on thicker card stock and a Collector Booster Sample Pack with a traditional foil borderless Enchanting Tales uncommon.
