Alternate art

An alternate art card is a version of a card printed with different artwork from its standard version. Pokémon, Magic, Lorcana and One Piece all print them, and sellers list them separately.

Also called Alt art.

In more detail

The card's name and text stay the same and only the picture changes, so a standard and an alternate art copy of one card are two printings. Pokémon's illustration rares are an example: many are new pictures of cards that also exist in a plainer form in the same set.

One Piece layers alt-art and parallel versions on top of a card's base rarity, so two cards can share a rarity code and still be different prints. Magic's Collector Booster packs hold alternate versions too, such as borderless and showcase cards.

Name the exact version when you buy or list. Match the card number, any suffix, the set and the finish to the listing, since two versions of one card can sit in very different price brackets.
