Reality Fracture is the Magic set Wizards of the Coast released on October 2, 2026, under the set code FRA, after Prerelease events began on September 25. Its story has Jace reshaping the Multiverse into distorted reflections, and every pack holds borderless echoed pairs. The set has 437 printings under 285 different names.

Special Guests (SPG), with 164 cards, share the same date. Each has its own code, so match the code on the card as well as the set name. Our guide to Magic set release dates places Reality Fracture among the other 2026 sets, and checking Magic card prices explains how to match a card’s set code and collector number.

What is Reality Fracture about?

Jace has remade the Multiverse to suit his vision, and familiar heroes, spells and strategies now appear as distorted reflections. Beyond the echoed pairs, there are also shattered mirror cards to look for. In September 2025, Wizards listed Reality Fracture for October 2026 among its 2026 sets and teased the reveal of a villain.

How many cards are in Reality Fracture?

The set has 437 printings. They carry 285 different card names, because many cards are printed more than once at different collector numbers. The numbers run from 1 to 448, and 11 of them hold no card: 413 to 422, and 442.

The numbers fall into four stretches:

Collector numbers Printings What is there
1 to 194 194 194 different cards
195 to 280 86 86 legendary cards, mostly in pairs
281 to 290 10 Basic lands, two of each of the five types
291 to 448 147 Repeats of cards from earlier numbers, including 15 more basic lands

Every name in the set first appears at a number from 1 to 290. So a card you find at a number above 290 is another printing of a card earlier in the set. Our guide to Magic foil types explains the treatments Wizards uses across sets, and the alternate art entry covers the term.

What are the paired legendary cards?

FRA has 95 legendary card names, and every number from 195 to 280 is among them. Most of those 86 cards come in twos under one character’s name:

  • Ajani Resolute (195) and Ajani Unrelenting (242)
  • Liliana the Faultless (200) and Liliana the Repentant (231)
  • Chandra, Chill of Compliance (212) and Chandra, Torch of Defiance (244)
  • Garruk, Veiled Butcher (229) and Garruk, Curse Breaker (259)

Every pack holds borderless echoed pairs, and the set’s story turns familiar heroes into distorted reflections.

What rarities are in Reality Fracture?

Rarity counts are of card names, not printings:

Rarity Names in FRA
Common 71
Uncommon 109
Rare 64
Mythic Rare 29
Land 15

The Land rarity, which basic lands such as Plains (281) carry, covers the five basic land types and ten other lands. The counts add up to 288, three more than the 285 names, because three cards appear at two rarities. Loyal Tutor (14), Gardenize (103) and Codie, Ravenous Codex (168) are Rares at their first number and Mythic Rares at a later one (404, 406 and 412). So rarity can differ between printings of the same card. Our guide to Magic card rarities explains the rarity symbols.

What products is Reality Fracture sold in?

Wizards named these products for the set:

  • Packs: Play Boosters and Collector Boosters.
  • Prerelease: the Prerelease Pack.
  • Decks: Reality Fracture Commander Decks, with Foundations Commander Decks named alongside them.
  • Bundles: the Bundle, and the Secret Lair Bundle, due October 23, three weeks after the set.

A separate Reality Fracture Commander set, FRC, holds 103 cards.

Wizards describes each pack type in general terms, so a given set’s packs can differ:

Pack type Cards of rare or higher Foil cards
Play Booster At least 1 At least 1
Collector Booster 5 to 6 8 to 10, or more

A Collector Booster also holds showcase, borderless and extended-art cards. Our guide to Magic Collector Boosters sets the two packs side by side, and the main booster and Collector Booster entries define each.

Will the pack names change?

Not for this set. Wizards told stores on October 5, 2026 that Play Boosters will be called Booster Packs from Nauctis, the first set of 2027, and that pack contents change then too. Reality Fracture comes before that, so its packs keep the Play Booster name.

How do you check Reality Fracture card prices?

Rip.fan’s price pages and card price lookup cover English Pokémon cards only, so use sold listings:

  1. Read the code and the number. FRA plus the collector number names one printing. A card at 404 and the same card at 14 are different printings to a buyer.
  2. Check the rarity of that printing. As Loyal Tutor shows, a later printing can carry a higher rarity.
  3. Match the finish. Price a foil copy against foil sales and a non-foil copy against non-foil sales.
  4. Use dated sold prices. Our guides to finding what a card sold for and market, listed and sold prices walk through it, and spotting fake Magic cards covers the checks.

A booster box is sealed product, so buy one with the maker’s wrap intact. For other recent sets, see our guides to One Piece OP-17, Lorcana’s Hyperia City and Yu-Gi-Oh!’s Beyond the Brave, or the trading card hub.
