Lorcana rarities explained, from Common to Iconic
Each Disney Lorcana rarity and its symbol, how many of each a 204-card set holds, where foils and promos fit, and how the ladder grew past its first six.
By the Rip.fan Editorial Team.
Published 5 min readDisney Lorcana marks each card’s rarity with a small symbol at the bottom of the card. Five rarities make up the standard ladder: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare and Legendary. Above them sit three special printings, Epic, Enchanted and Iconic, and a fourth, Illustrious, arrives with Into the Inkdark in February 2027. In a 204-card set such as Winterspell, there are 72 Commons, 54 Uncommons, 48 Rares, 18 Super Rares and 12 Legendaries.
What are the Lorcana rarities, in order?
| Rarity | Symbol | Cards per set | Printings across all sets |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | A grey circle | 72 | 951 |
| Uncommon | An open book in silver | 54 | 712 |
| Rare | A triangle in bronze | 48 | 646 |
| Super Rare | A diamond in silver | 18 | 244 |
| Legendary | A five-sided gem in gold | 12 | 164 |
| Epic | A gem of its own | 18 | 90 |
| Enchanted | A six-sided gem with an iridescent finish | 12 at first, then 18 | 224 |
| Iconic | A gem of its own | 2 | 12 |
| Promo | No standard gem, but an event or product mark | Varies | 196 |
Illustrious arrives in 2027 with 6 cards per set, 23 copies each.
The counts for the five standard rarities are those of Winterspell, and The First Chapter and Wilds Unknown show the same split. In all, 3,239 printings exist across every set. Our glossary entry on Enchanted covers the best-known special printing.

How many of each rarity does a set hold?
The sets below hold 204 or 205 cards each, and there are more printings than cards. The gap is the special printings, which carry collector numbers above the set’s count.
| Set | Cards | Printings | Enchanted | The gap, by Rip.fan’s arithmetic |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The First Chapter | 204 | 216 | 12 | 12 Enchanted |
| Fabled | 205 | 243 | 18 | 18 Enchanted, 18 Epic, 2 Iconic |
| Winterspell | 204 | 242 | 18 | 18 Enchanted, 18 Epic, 2 Iconic |
| Wilds Unknown | 204 | 242 | 18 | 18 Enchanted, 18 Epic, 2 Iconic |
The 38-printing gap since Fabled matches Ravensburger’s counts of 18 Epic and 2 Iconic cards per set, plus the 18 Enchanted cards. The Enchanted run was 12 apiece in the first two sets and 18 a set from Into the Inklands, the third set, on. Fabled’s extra card is a 19th Super Rare.
The split from Common to Legendary has held steady in the sets counted here, at 72, 54, 48, 18 and 12, apart from Fabled’s extra Super Rare. So in those 204-card sets a Super Rare is one of 18 cards, and a Legendary one of 12. Those are counts of different cards, not figures for how often any of them turns up in a pack.
How do rarities line up in a pack?
Before Epic and Iconic existed, a 12-card pack split into 6 Commons, 3 Uncommons, a foil of any rarity and two cards drawn from Rare, Super Rare and Legendary. Our guide to Lorcana Enchanted cards and box contents covers what each pack and box holds, and the booster pack entry explains the term.
Is a foil card a different rarity?
No. A foil is a finish of the same printing: most booster cards exist in a nonfoil and a foil version, while Enchanted and Iconic printings, and most other premium special ones, exist only in foil. So a foil Common is still a Common, but it has a price of its own.
TCGplayer’s price reports name the finishes Normal, Cold Foil and Holofoil. Its report of September 16, 2026 lists the Legendary Mickey Mouse - Inspirational Warrior from Archazia’s Island in Cold Foil, and the Enchanted version of the same card as Holofoil. Our guide to checking a Lorcana card’s value shows how far apart those prices sit.
What did Fabled change?
Fabled, the ninth set, added two rarities and changed a third:
- Epic. A tier that sits between Legendary and Enchanted in scarcity, with 18 cards per set. Its cards drop the frame around the art and add tinted text, holofoil icons and a rainbow foil.
- Iconic. Ravensburger’s rarest tier, at 2 cards per set. Each has art across the whole card, a foil pattern of lore stars made for it, and 3D hot stamping.
- Enchanted. Printed with rainbow foil hot stamping, and its rarity symbol is now stamped in holofoil.
Fabled also brought back cards from past sets, and a reprint is a printing of its own. TCGplayer’s September 16, 2026 report says the Fabled printing of Stitch - Carefree Surfer, first printed in The First Chapter, picked up a UV spot varnish over its art and a holographic foil rarity icon. The two printings share a name and sell separately.
What is an Illustrious card?
The newest rarity, due with Into the Inkdark, which Ravensburger dates to a February 5 prerelease and a February 12 release. Its press release of September 22, 2026 says:
- Only in collector boosters. Standard packs and collector boosters both hold 12 cards across all rarities, but Illustrious cards appear only in the collector kind.
- Serialized. They are the first serialized Lorcana cards: 6 per set, with 23 printed of each.
- Artist-led. Each carries custom art from a well-known artist, drawn in that artist’s own style and credited prominently on the card.
Every card in a collector booster is foil. Our entries on serial-numbered cards and collector boosters explain both terms.
Where do promo cards fit?
Outside the ladder. Promo printings carry an event or product mark instead of a standard rarity gem, and there are 196 of them. They come from events and products: each Hyperia City prerelease box holds one promo card. Our promo card entry covers the term across card games.
Does a higher rarity mean a higher price?
Not reliably. A rarity attaches to each printing: one card can exist as a Common and as an Enchanted reprint, each with its own collector number and its own price. Look up the exact printing’s price instead of inferring one from the rarity.
So read the symbol, the collector number and the finish together before you price a card. Our guide to Lorcana set release dates lists every set, One Piece rarities covers another card game’s ladder, and the trading card hub collects the rest.
