Lorcana Into the Inkdark: dates and collector boosters
Disney Lorcana's Into the Inkdark, the first set of 2027: its February dates, the new collector boosters, the serialized Illustrious cards and its products.
By the Rip.fan Editorial Team.
Published 5 min readInto the Inkdark is the first Disney Lorcana set of 2027. Its prerelease is February 5 and its release February 12, and in September 2026 Ravensburger placed the set in 2027. It is a set built around villains, and it brings two firsts: collector boosters, a premium pack of 12 foil cards, and Illustrious, a new rarity of serialized cards with only 23 copies of each.
When does Into the Inkdark come out?
| Stage | Date |
|---|---|
| Prerelease | Friday, February 5, 2027 |
| Release | Friday, February 12, 2027 |
| Year | 2027, the first set released that year, in the first quarter |
By Rip.fan’s arithmetic, February 12, 2027 comes 16 weeks after Hyperia City’s release everywhere on October 23, 2026. The set after it, Cosmic Quest, is due in spring 2027, in the second quarter. Our guide to Lorcana set release dates shows the whole calendar.
What is the set about?
Villains are emerging from the shadows, among them one careful plotter, a hothead deep in the Inkdark, who is intent on becoming Lorcana’s fastest-rising threat. He is a glimmer of Hades, plotting deep beneath Lorcana. In Lorcana, a glimmer is Ravensburger’s word for a version of a Disney character. The set also promises a valley of giant glimmers and cavernous mines, and the box art shows Hades.
What is a Lorcana collector booster?
A new kind of pack that starts with this set.
- Twelve cards, all foil. A collector booster holds 12 premium foil cards, and the collector booster box is printed with the same figure.
- Richer finishes for rarer cards. The rarer the card, the more elaborate its treatments.
- More Enchanted and Iconic cards. These turn up at a much higher rate than in a standard booster pack.
- The only home of Illustrious cards. They are found in collector boosters and nowhere else.
Collector boosters go on sale at select stores in Ravensburger’s store program and at Disney Parks and stores.
| Standard booster pack | Collector booster | |
|---|---|---|
| Cards per pack | 12 | 12 |
| Illustrious cards | Never | The only pack that holds them |
| Enchanted and Iconic cards | Less often than in a collector booster | Much more often |
Every card in a collector booster is foil, and collector boosters are sold at select stores in Ravensburger’s program, Disney Parks and stores.
Our guide to Lorcana Enchanted cards and box contents covers what a standard pack holds and which card rates Ravensburger publishes. Magic has its own Collector Booster, which our guide to Magic Collector Boosters explains, and the Collector Booster entry describes Magic’s version.
What are Illustrious cards?
Lorcana’s newest rarity, and the first serialized Disney Lorcana cards: each one carries a number showing which copy it is, out of a fixed run.
| What | Figure |
|---|---|
| Different Illustrious cards per set | 6 |
| Copies of each card | 23 |
| Copies of all six together | 138, by Rip.fan’s arithmetic |
| Where they come from | Collector boosters only |
Each one has art made for it by a popular artist, in that artist’s own style, with embellishments that include a prominent artist credit. At D23, Ravensburger revealed one of the six, Maleficent - Biding Her Time, illustrated by Kendall Hale, as a nod to the first Lorcana card revealed at D23 back in 2022. Maleficent - Biding Her Time is also the full name of card 1-48 in The First Chapter, a Rare.
What do the preview images show?
Two Illustrious cards have been pictured, Maleficent - Biding Her Time and The Evil Queen - Commanding Presence. On those two images:
- both show XX/23 on the top edge, for a serialized run of 23 of each;
- the artist’s name runs in large letters along the bottom: Kendall Hale on Maleficent, Arch Apolar on The Evil Queen.
These are preview images, so the finished cards may differ. Our serial-numbered entry explains how a stamped run works, and our guide to serial-numbered cards shows how to read one, using sports cards.
What products will Into the Inkdark come in?
| Product | What it holds | Cards from packs, by Rip.fan’s arithmetic |
|---|---|---|
| Collector boosters | 12 foil cards a pack | 12 a pack |
| Booster packs and booster display boxes | The display box pictured is printed 24 booster packs, with 12 cards a pack | 288 a display box |
| Illumineer’s Trove | A full-art box, 8 booster packs and small accessories, among other items | 96 |
The prerelease box holds exclusive keepsakes for prerelease events.
Our booster box entry explains the format. Like any sealed product, a box should arrive in unbroken factory wrap.
What is still unannounced?
As of October 12, 2026, several things a buyer would want were still unannounced:
- The card list and set size.
- Four of the six Illustrious cards. Only two are pictured.
- The Enchanted style for this set.
- Pack counts for collector booster boxes, and any card rate for an Illustrious, Enchanted or Iconic card.
When the card list appears, our guide to Lorcana rarities explains each rarity symbol, and the card number entry explains why the full number matters.
What should you check before you buy?
- The pack type. A collector booster and a standard booster pack both hold 12 cards. The collector booster is all foil and the only pack with Illustrious cards.
- The copy number on an Illustrious card. Each has a run of 23, so a listing should show the card’s own number, clearly, in the photos.
- Unbroken wrap. Sealed packs and boxes should come in the factory film. Our guides to spotting resealed Pokémon packs and storing sealed product cover the checks and the care.
How will you check Into the Inkdark card prices?
Not on Rip.fan, whose card price lookup and price pages hold English Pokémon cards only. Once the set is out, price a card from completed sales of its exact printing, with the date of each sale. Our Lorcana card value guide and our guide to finding what a card sold for explain the method, and the seller fee calculator shows what you keep after TCGplayer’s and Whatnot’s fees. For the sets before it, see our guides to Hyperia City and Whispers in the Well, or the trading card hub.
