Whispers in the Well is Disney Lorcana’s Set 10. Ravensburger brought it to local stores on November 7, 2025 and released it everywhere on November 14, 2025. Where Fabled, the set before it, leaned on reprints, Whispers in the Well is almost all new: only 2 of its 204 standard cards were already printed in an earlier set.

When did Whispers in the Well come out?

Stage Date
Prerelease events November 7 to 9, 2025, in local stores
Release everywhere November 14, 2025

Our guide to Lorcana set release dates shows where the set falls among the others.

What is the set about?

A mystery. The set sends collectors into the Inkwell Caverns, where a new kind of glimmer roams: Whispers, characters that are not fully formed because they were summoned from torn or damaged Lorebook pages. Each version of a Disney character is called a glimmer. Whisper appears as a classification on cards such as Gaston - Frightful Bully and Ariel - Ethereal Voice.

Three groups of characters stand out:

  • First appearances: glimmers from the 1985 film The Black Cauldron and the 1990s TV series Gargoyles, which make their Lorcana debut here.
  • A classic folk tale: the Headless Horseman, with other characters from the same story such as Katrina Van Tassel and Brom Bones.
  • Detectives: the set’s detective theme centers on Zootopia’s Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde.

How many cards are in Whispers in the Well?

The set has 204 new cards, numbered 10-1 to 10-204, the set number first and the card’s own number second, with the special printings above them:

Card numbers Printings What they are
10-1 to 10-204 204 Standard cards: 72 Common, 54 Uncommon, 48 Rare, 18 Super Rare and 12 Legendary
10-205 to 10-222 18 Epic printings
10-223 to 10-240 18 Enchanted printings
10-241 and 10-242 2 Iconic printings

That makes 242 printings. The Epic cards are frameless, and the two Iconic cards carry a lore star foil pattern and 3D hot stamping. Each step of the rarity ladder is explained in our Lorcana rarities guide, and the card number entry shows why a buyer reads the number.

Do the special numbers follow the card order?

Mostly, but not exactly. Several neighbors in the Epic and Enchanted blocks trade places:

  • 10-205 is the Epic Goofy - Ghost Hunter, card 10-21, and 10-206 is the Epic Gaston - Frightful Bully, card 10-2.
  • 10-223 is the Enchanted Goofy - Galumphing Gumshoe, card 10-24, ahead of the Enchanted Simba - King in the Making, card 10-20, at 10-224.
  • The two Iconic printings are Ariel - Ethereal Voice at 10-241, a Rare at 10-17, and Hades - Looking for a Deal at 10-242, a Legendary at 10-56.

Fabled’s Epic and Enchanted printings run in strict card order. So for Whispers in the Well, read the number printed on the card and do not work it out from the standard number.

Which cards got special printings?

Counted by the rarity of each card’s standard printing, the special printings in Whispers in the Well run like this:

Special printing Cards Standard rarity of those cards
Epic 18 6 Common, 6 Uncommon, 6 Rare
Enchanted 18 1 Uncommon, 7 Rare, 4 Super Rare, 6 Legendary
Iconic 2 1 Rare, 1 Legendary

The eighteenth Enchanted printing, 10-228, belongs to Can’t Hold It Back Anymore, the Rare card 10-62, and sits where card 62 falls in the block’s order. No Common card got an Enchanted version in this set. The one Uncommon that did is Malicious, Mean, and Scary, card 10-97. Our Enchanted entry explains the symbol, and our guide to Lorcana Enchanted cards and box contents covers how these printings work across sets.

Are any Whispers in the Well cards reprints?

Two, by name. These standard cards share a full name (character plus version) with a card from the nine earlier sets:

Card In Whispers in the Well First printed
Dragon Fire Common, 10-133 The First Chapter, Uncommon, 1-130
Mickey Mouse - Detective Common, 10-160 The First Chapter, Common, 1-154

The other 202 names are new to Lorcana. That is a sharp turn from Fabled: by the same method, most of Fabled’s 205 cards share a full name with a card from the first four sets, as our Fabled guide sets out. A reprint and its earlier printing are still separate cards to a buyer, so a listing for Dragon Fire needs the 10 in front of the number.

How does it compare with the sets around it?

Whispers in the Well beside the sets before and after it:

Fabled (Set 9) Whispers in the Well (Set 10) Winterspell (Set 11)
Standard cards 205 204 204
First standard number 9-0 10-1 11-1
Super Rare cards 19 18 18
Printings in all 243 242 242

All three carry 72 Commons, 54 Uncommons, 48 Rares and 12 Legendaries, so the one extra Super Rare explains Fabled’s extra card. Our guides to Fabled and Winterspell cover each in detail.

What products does Whispers in the Well come in?

Three: an Illumineer’s Trove, a ready-made deck, and booster packs and boxes. Read the pack count on a box before you buy it.

Most prerelease events gave each participant six Whispers in the Well booster packs, 72 cards in all, so each pack held 12 cards by Rip.fan’s arithmetic. Participants also received a promo card while supplies lasted. Our promo card entry explains how these differ from pack cards. Any booster box counts as sealed product: look for unbroken factory wrap.

What should you check before you buy?

  1. A 10 in front of the number. Dragon Fire and Mickey Mouse - Detective also exist in The First Chapter, so a listing should give the full number, such as 10-133.
  2. A number above 10-204 for a special version. Epic, Enchanted and Iconic printings all sit above the standard cards; the number in the title and the one on the card in the photos should agree.
  3. No guessing inside the blocks. Several Epic and Enchanted numbers swap places, so a special number cannot be worked out from the standard one.
  4. Unbroken wrap on sealed product. Our guide to storing sealed product explains how to keep it in that state.

How do you check Whispers in the Well card prices?

Not on Rip.fan, whose card price lookup and price pages hold English Pokémon cards only. Sold listings do the job instead. Confirm the 10 before the card number, then the printing: Goofy - Ghost Hunter at 10-21 and its Epic version at 10-205 sell as two different cards. Then take prices from completed sales with dates, not from asking prices. Our Lorcana card value guide, our explainer on market, listed and sold prices and our guide to finding what a card sold for set out the method.

Selling singles? The seller fee calculator works out what TCGplayer and Whatnot leave you after fees. The newest sets have guides of their own: Hyperia City and Into the Inkdark. The trading card hub gathers the rest.
