Disney Lorcana's Fabled, Set 9: its 2025 dates, the new Epic and Iconic rarities, how its 243 printings are numbered, its reprints and its products.
By the Rip.fan Editorial Team.
Published 6 min readFabled is the ninth Disney Lorcana set. Ravensburger brought it to local stores on August 29, 2025 and released it everywhere on September 5, 2025. It introduced two rarities, Epic and Iconic, and it is built largely from cards Lorcana had printed before: 171 of its 205 cards share a full name with a card from the first four sets. Counting its special printings, Fabled has 243 printings in all.
When did Fabled come out?
| Stage | Date |
|---|---|
| Prerelease events | August 29 to 31, 2025, in local stores |
| Release everywhere | September 5, 2025 |
Our guide to Lorcana set release dates places Fabled among the sets around it.
What is the set about?
Fabled is meant as a good place to start a collection, because it brings back cards from past sets. It features three groups of characters:
- A Goofy Movie: Goofy, Max Goof and Powerline, alongside other characters from the film.
- Princesses: heroes in their own right.
- Classic friends: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and their pals.
Characters from A Goofy Movie and Dumbo make their Lorcana debut in Fabled. The characters on Lorcana cards are called glimmers.
What is new in Fabled?
Fabled made three changes to the top of the rarity ladder:
| Rarity | Per set | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Epic (new) | 18 | Artwork with no frame, tinted text, holofoil icons and a rainbow foil; rarer than Legendary, more common than Enchanted |
| Iconic (new) | 2 | Art across the whole card, 3D hot stamping and a custom foil pattern of lore stars; the rarest cards in Lorcana |
Enchanted (changed) is now printed with rainbow foil hot stamping, and the rarity symbol is holofoil stamped.
Our guide to Lorcana rarities explains the whole ladder, and the Enchanted entry covers that symbol.
How are Fabled cards numbered?
Card numbers read as the set number, then the card’s own number. Fabled starts at 9-0, not 9-1, and runs in four blocks:
| Card numbers | Printings | What they are |
|---|---|---|
| 9-0 to 9-204 | 205 | Standard cards: 72 Common, 54 Uncommon, 48 Rare, 19 Super Rare and 12 Legendary |
| 9-205 to 9-222 | 18 | Epic printings |
| 9-223 to 9-240 | 18 | Enchanted printings |
| 9-241 and 9-242 | 2 | Iconic printings |
Card 9-0 is Bruno Madrigal - Undetected Uncle, a Super Rare. Every special printing repeats a standard card under a higher number. The Epic and the Enchanted printings each run in the order of the cards’ standard numbers. Some examples:
- The Queen - Conceited Ruler: Rare at 9-1, Epic at 9-205.
- Pongo - Determined Father: Super Rare at 9-2, Enchanted at 9-223.
- Minnie Mouse - Sweetheart Princess: Super Rare at 9-5, Iconic at 9-241.
- Mickey Mouse - Brave Little Prince: Legendary at 9-111, Iconic at 9-242.
So read the number and the rarity symbol together. A card at 9-205 and the same card at 9-1 are different printings to a buyer. Our card number entry explains the idea using Pokémon’s numbering.

Which cards get special printings?
Not the same kinds of card. The Epic, Enchanted and Iconic printings by each card’s standard rarity:
| Special printing | Cards | Standard rarity of those cards | Reprints among them |
|---|---|---|---|
| Epic | 18 | 6 Common, 6 Uncommon, 6 Rare | 11 |
| Enchanted | 18 | 2 Common, 3 Rare, 7 Super Rare, 6 Legendary | 6 |
| Iconic | 2 | 1 Super Rare, 1 Legendary | 0 |
So Epic printings went to Commons, Uncommons and Rares, while Enchanted printings went mostly to the top of the ladder. The two Commons with an Enchanted version are Winnie the Pooh - Hunny Wizard and Mickey Mouse - Steamboat Pilot, both cards first printed in earlier sets.
Which Fabled cards are reprints?
Most of them. Fabled brings back cards from past sets, and in 2025 Ravensburger said the set would reprint some cards from the first sets, Enchanted versions included. Against sets 1 to 8, Fabled’s 205 card names break down like this:
| First printed in | Fabled cards |
|---|---|
| The First Chapter (Set 1) | 47 |
| Rise of the Floodborn (Set 2) | 36 |
| Into the Inklands (Set 3) | 37 |
| Set 4, built around Ursula | 51 |
| Sets 5 to 8 | 0 |
| No earlier list (new names) | 34 |
The 34 new names include the A Goofy Movie and Dumbo cards, such as the three Max Goof cards and Dumbo - The Flying Elephant, and both Iconic cards.
Do reprints keep their rarity?
Not always. 25 of the 171 reprints carry a lower rarity in Fabled than in their earlier set, each one step down:
| Change | Cards | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Legendary to Super Rare | 3 | Mickey Mouse - Trumpeter |
| Super Rare to Rare | 6 | Robin Hood - Unrivaled Archer |
| Rare to Uncommon | 8 | Magic Mirror |
| Uncommon to Common | 8 | Be Our Guest |
A reprint and its earlier printing are separate cards for pricing, even when the name is the same. Our guide to checking a Lorcana card’s value shows how listings keep them apart.
What products does Fabled come in?
| Product | What it holds | Cards from packs, by Rip.fan’s arithmetic |
|---|---|---|
| Booster display box | 24 booster packs of 12 cards | 288 |
| Illumineer’s Trove | 8 booster packs of 12 cards, plus a storage box, foiled small accessories and 6 foiled card dividers | 96 |
| Ready-made deck | 60 curated cards | None from packs |
Most prerelease events gave each person six Fabled booster packs, 72 cards, and participants also received a promo version of The Queen - Conceited Ruler while supplies lasted. Our promo card entry explains what sets these apart, and a booster box is sealed product, so buy one with the maker’s wrap intact.
What should you check before you buy?
- The set number in a singles listing. Because most Fabled cards share a name with an earlier card, a listing that gives only the name may be for the older printing. Ask for the full number, such as 9-24.
- The rarity symbol. A reprint may carry a lower rarity in Fabled than it did before, as the table above shows.
- The special printing. An Epic, Enchanted or Iconic printing has its own number above 9-204, so check that the number in the listing matches the card in the photos.
- The product name and seal. A Trove and a display box hold different numbers of packs, and sealed product should have the maker’s wrap intact. Our guide to storing sealed product covers keeping it that way.
How do you check Fabled card prices?
Rip.fan’s price pages and card price lookup cover English Pokémon cards only, so price a Fabled card from sold listings:
- Match the set. A Fabled reprint and the same card from an earlier set are different printings, so check for the 9 before the card number.
- Match the printing. Read the number and the rarity symbol. A Common and its Epic or Enchanted version are different cards to a buyer.
- Use sold prices, not asking prices. Our guides to market, listed and sold prices and finding what a card sold for walk through the method.
If you sell singles, the seller fee calculator shows what you keep after TCGplayer’s and Whatnot’s fees. For another set, see our guides to Winterspell and Hyperia City, our Lorcana Enchanted cards and box contents guide, or the trading card hub.
