Stellar Crown is an expansion in Pokémon’s Scarlet & Violet series, released September 13, 2024. It introduced Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, with crystal-themed art, and brought Terapagos, Hydrapple and Archaludon to the Pokémon TCG for the first time. The set has 175 cards: 142 inside the printed total and 33 numbered above it. Only 8 of its 14 Pokémon ex get any version above double rare, and those 8 are exactly the ones that also appear in a Japanese set released earlier.

When did Stellar Crown come out?

On September 13, 2024. Pokémon announced it on June 27, 2024, and it went on sale on September 13 at Pokémon Center and other retailers around the world. Pokémon Center sold select products in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Its code is SCR on Rip.fan’s price page. It followed Shrouded Fable, released August 2, 2024, and came before Surging Sparks, released November 8, 2024.

Pokémon ties the set to the Terastal phenomenon first seen in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. Terapagos, Hydrapple and Archaludon were first found in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, the add-on for those two titles. Pokémon’s expansion page also highlights two Paradox Pokémon, Raging Bolt and Iron Boulder, which are rares here at 111 and 071, and three grown-up first partner Pokémon: Venusaur ex, Blastoise ex and Greninja ex.

What is a Stellar Tera Pokémon ex?

A kind of Tera Pokémon ex that this set introduced. Each one has an attack whose name is inspired by a gemstone, and the set’s art highlights the crystal look of these cards. The set has four Stellar Tera Pokémon ex beside 10 other Pokémon ex. Tera Pokémon ex sit in the double rare tier, and the set has exactly 14 double rares. Our guide to Pokémon ex cards explains Tera Pokémon ex in general.

How many cards are in Stellar Crown?

  1. Cards 001 to 128 are Pokémon and 129 to 142 are Trainer cards. The main run has no Energy cards.
Rarity Mark Cards Numbers
Common Black circle 71 Within 002 to 130
Uncommon Black diamond 39 Within 004 to 141
Rare Black star 15 Within 003 to 119
Double rare Two black stars 14 Within 001 to 128
Illustration rare One gold star 13 143 to 155
Ultra rare Two silver stars, which Pokémon calls foil stars 11 156 to 166
Special illustration rare Two gold stars 6 167 to 172
Hyper rare Three gold stars 3 173 to 175

The 14 double rares are 10 Pokémon ex and 4 Stellar Tera Pokémon ex; the 3 ACE SPEC rares are Trainer cards numbered 134, 136 and 142; and the 3 hyper rares are gold etched cards.

Every count Pokémon gave matches the list.

  • ACE SPEC rares. Two Pokémon Tools and one Stadium, all inside the printed total and numbered among the Trainer cards.
  • Ultra rares. 7 Pokémon ex and 4 Supporters: Briar, Crispin, Kofu and Lacey, the four Supporters Pokémon features for the set.
  • Special illustration rares. 4 Pokémon ex and 2 Supporters, Briar and Lacey.
  • Hyper rares. Only three: Terapagos ex, the Stadium Area Zero Underdepths and the Pokémon Tool Bravery Charm. Bravery Charm has no card of the same name in the main list, while the Stadium is also an uncommon at 131.
  • Two first partners. The illustration rares Bulbasaur (143) and Squirtle (148) have no card of the same name in the main list, which holds Venusaur ex at 001 and Blastoise ex at 030 instead.

Rip.fan’s page for Stellar Crown uses the same nine rarities. Each mark is explained in our guide to Pokémon rarity symbols.

Which Pokémon ex come in which versions?

All 14 have a double rare inside the main list. Only 8 go further:

Pokémon ex Double rare Ultra rare Special illustration rare Hyper rare
Venusaur ex 001 None None None
Hydrapple ex 014 156 167 None
Cinderace ex 028 157 None None
Blastoise ex 030 None None None
Lapras ex 032 158 None None
Greninja ex 041 None None None
Galvantula ex 051 159 168 None
Dachsbun ex 067 160 169 None
Medicham ex 080 161 None None
Lucario ex 082 None None None
Garganacl ex 089 None None None
Melmetal ex 105 None None None
Orthworm ex 110 162 None None
Terapagos ex 128 None 170 173

Three patterns stand out:

  • No Pokémon ex comes in all four versions. Terapagos ex skips the ultra rare: it has a double rare, a special illustration rare and the set’s only Pokémon hyper rare.
  • Six appear only as double rares. Venusaur ex, Blastoise ex, Greninja ex, Lucario ex, Garganacl ex and Melmetal ex, including all three first partners the expansion page highlights.
  • Three get both an ultra rare and a special illustration rare. Hydrapple ex, Galvantula ex and Dachsbun ex.

Which Japanese set shares its Pokémon ex?

Stellar Miracle (ステラミラクル), code SV7, which went on sale in Japan on July 19, 2024, in 5-card packs. It holds 8 of Stellar Crown’s 14 Pokémon ex: Hydrapple ex, Cinderace ex, Lapras ex, Galvantula ex, Dachsbun ex, Medicham ex, Orthworm ex and Terapagos ex. Those are exactly the 8 with any version above double rare. The six double-rare-only Pokémon ex are not in it. SV7 has 135 cards against 175 for Stellar Crown.

Which art cards share an illustrator?

MARINA Chikazawa drew the Joltik illustration rare (150), the Galvantula ex special illustration rare (168) and the Area Zero Underdepths hyper rare (174), and Galvantula evolves from Joltik. Saboteri drew the Squirtle illustration rare (148) and the Terapagos ex special illustration rare (170). A shared credit does not show that two cards were meant as a pair. Our guide to illustration rares sets the set’s counts beside others.

What products hold Stellar Crown packs?

Pokémon features six products: a Booster Display, a Sleeved Booster, a Booster Bundle, a box with a 40-card deck, an Elite Trainer Box and a Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box.

  • The 40-card-deck box. This kind of box holds a smaller, 40-card deck.
  • The Elite Trainer Box. It holds a little of everything, from card sleeves and Energy cards to full-art promo cards, booster packs and a guide.
  • The Pokémon Center edition. It comes with two extra booster packs and one extra illustration rare-style promo card that carries the Pokémon Center logo.

The set is sold in booster packs, in Elite Trainer Boxes and in special collections. Check a box’s printed contents or the seller’s listing for the pack count before you buy. Our guides to booster boxes and Elite Trainer Boxes cover what these products hold in other sets.

How do you check Stellar Crown card prices?

Stellar Crown has its own page in Rip.fan’s Pokémon price pages, listing the set’s cards with number, rarity and NM market price. Sort it by number and Terapagos ex’s three cards sit at 128, 170 and 173; filter it to see one rarity at a time. For a single card, the card price lookup searches by name, set or number and shows which printing each price is for, and the price changes page shows moves between Rip.fan’s weekly checks.

If you plan to grade, our guide to whether a card is worth grading covers the costs, and the centering checker turns border measurements into a centering split.

What should you check before buying?

  1. The version. Terapagos ex is three different cards here: 128, 170 and 173. Match the card number to the rarity a listing claims.
  2. The language. Japanese printings sit in Stellar Miracle with their own numbers. The double rare Terapagos ex is 088 in SV7 and 128 in Stellar Crown. Our Japanese and English cards guide explains the differences.
  3. Sealed contents. Compare a box with its printed contents, and see our guide to spotting resealed Pokémon packs.
  4. Genuine cards. Our guide to spotting fake Pokémon cards walks through checks that leave a card unharmed.

The Pokémon hub has the rest of our coverage, and our guides to Twilight Masquerade, Temporal Forces and Obsidian Flames cover the sets before it the same way.
