Panini Origins is a release whose hobby box holds a single pack, built around illustrated designs and on-card rookie autographs. The 2025 football edition, released August 27, 2025, has 100 base cards, 50 rookies and 10 rookie variations, and each seven-card hobby box holds two autographs and a memorabilia card. The 2025-26 basketball edition, released August 28, 2026, carries a college, high school or international label on 37 of its 100 base cards.
How is the 2025 football base set built?
In three parts:
| Block | Card numbers | Cards | What it holds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base | 1 to 100 | 100 | NFL players, listed by team |
| Rookies | 101 to 150 | 50 | The 2025 class, each flagged RC |
| Rookie Variations | Same numbers as the rookie | 10 | A second version of 10 rookie cards |
Cam Ward of the Titans is at card 143 in both the Rookies block and the variations, so the number alone does not tell the two apart. Check the photo against the regular rookie card. The set is called Origins NFL Football, and each player carries an NFL team. The base design is a colorful cosmic background. Our guide to what counts as a rookie card explains the RC flag.
What parallels does 2025 football have?
Eleven on the base and rookie cards, and eight more Holo colors on the rookies only.
| Numbered to | Base and rookie cards | Rookie cards only |
|---|---|---|
| 299 | None | Holo Red |
| 249 | None | Holo Orange |
| 225 | Red | None |
| 199 | None | Holo Blue |
| 149 | Orange | Holo Silver |
| 99 | Blue | Holo Turquoise |
| 75 | Silver | None |
| 50 | Turquoise | None |
| 17 | Purple | None |
| 10 | Gold | Holo Gold |
| 5 | Green | Holo Green |
| 3 | Pink | None |
| One of one | Black, Printing Plates | Holo Black |
The Holo colors come only in blasters and only for the rookies. Several runs repeat on a rookie card, so a rookie numbered to 149 could be Orange or Holo Silver. Name the color when you buy or sell. Our guide to sports card parallels explains numbered colors.
What is in each 2025 football box?
| Format | Packs and cards | Listed per box, on average |
|---|---|---|
| Hobby | 1 pack of 7 cards | 1 rookie jersey autograph, 1 more autograph, 1 memorabilia card, 2 parallels, 2 more base-set cards |
| FOTL (1st Off the Line) hobby | 1 pack of 7 cards | As hobby, with the rookie jersey autograph in Pink or Purple, numbered to 23 or fewer |
| International Blaster | 6 packs of 6 cards | 14 base cards, 14 rookies, 2 parallels, 5 inserts |
Averages come from many boxes, so any one box can differ. Our guide to hobby and retail boxes explains why formats differ.
What autographs and memorabilia does 2025 football have?
The rookie signatures are on-card, in single, dual and triple versions. There are 13 autograph sets:
- Rookie Jumbo Jersey Autographs: 42 cards. Patch versions run from Red, numbered to 99, to a Black one of one, and the Purple and Pink versions, numbered to 23 and 12, fit the FOTL box listing.
- Rookie Autographs and Base Rookies Signatures: 41 cards each.
- Base Autographs: 49 cards, numbered to 25 or fewer.
- Hometown Inscriptions: 24 cards, numbered to 99.
- Proving Ground Signatures: 22 cards, numbered to 199 or fewer.
- Booklets: Rookie Booklet Patch Auto (19 cards, numbered to 49), Rookie Stars Dual Patch Signatures Booklet (12) and Origins of Greatness Booklet Auto (10, numbered to 10).
- Smaller sets: Dual Rookie Autographs (10, numbered to 100), Star Signatures (9, numbered to 25), Triple Rookie Autographs (3, numbered to 10) and one card in a Patrick Mahomes series.
Base Autographs, Star Signatures and Hometown Inscriptions are hobby-exclusive, along with the memorabilia sets International Origins and Rise to the Hall. There are five memorabilia sets in all: those two (30 cards each), Rookie Patches (30), Rookie Jumbo Jerseys (28) and Future Fabrics (10), each numbered to 199 at the base level. Our guides to patch cards and RPAs and sticker and on-card autographs explain those terms.
What inserts are there?
Seven sets of 20 cards: Big Bang, Blank Slate, Fons et Origo, In the Beginning, Original Gridiron, Primordial and Start-Ups. Four of them, Big Bang, Fons et Origo, Original Gridiron and Start-Ups, come only in International Blasters.
How does 2025-26 Origins basketball differ?
It differs from the football edition in the cards of NBA stars, the player pool and the box. The cards of current and former NBA stars in this edition are unlicensed, though each NBA player’s team is still shown.
The 100-card base set mixes NBA players with others. 37 cards show something other than an NBA team: 29 a college, 6 “High School” and 2 “International”. Card 26, Lauren Betts, is with UCLA, for example.
| 2025 football | 2025-26 basketball | |
|---|---|---|
| Release date | August 27, 2025 | August 28, 2026 |

| Hobby box | 1 pack of 7 cards | 1 pack of 10 cards |

The 2025 football set also comes in FOTL hobby and International Blaster formats.
The basketball box also holds two base cards, which accounts for all ten.
What else is in 2025-26 basketball?
19 autograph sets with 325 cards between them, among them Rookie Jersey Autographs (37 cards), Rookie Acetate Autographs (37), OrigiNation Autographs (32) and Rookie Autographs (32). Six Star Signatures are among the booklet cards, 7 of them, each numbered to 10. Memorabilia comes in four sets: Rookie Jumbo Jerseys (40, numbered to 99), Origins Memorabilia (29), Rookie Hats (16) and Dual Swatches (15). The Rookie Hats cards carry relics worn by the players the night they were drafted.
The inserts include three animal-eye sets, among them White Tiger Eyes and the new Panther Eyes, plus Gala, a 40-card set with each card numbered to 8. The set also includes 88 update autographs for four other 2025-26 Panini sets: Court Kings, Donruss, Select and Signature Series. Because they sit among the Origins cards, check the set name on a signed card before you assume which product it came from.
How to check an Origins card before you buy
- Read the year and sport, then the number. In 2025 football, 1 to 100 is a base card and 101 to 150 a rookie.
- For a rookie, check whether it is the regular card or the variation, since both share a number.
- Match the color to the serial number with the parallel table. The Holo colors on football rookies are tied to blasters.
- For a signed card, read the set name and the serial number together, since several sets share the same players.
- Measure the borders with our centering checker, which shows the CGC and SGC grades a centering split allows.
- Price the exact card from recent sales, as our guide to finding what a card sold for explains.
Rip.fan’s card price lookup covers English Pokémon cards only, so sold listings are where to price Origins. If you sell on Whatnot, the seller fee calculator shows what you keep after its fees. Our guides to NBA Hoops, Panini National Treasures and Panini Mosaic cover more Panini sets, and the sports cards hub lists the rest.
