Blaster box
A blaster box is a small sealed box of sports card packs sold at large retail stores such as Target and Walmart. It is one of several retail formats, and some blasters hold cards made only for them.
Also called Blaster.
In more detail
In a 2011 answer from its customer care team, Upper Deck said it sells through two channels, hobby and retail, and that most products are available in both. The blaster belongs to retail: a 2011 Cardboard Connection dictionary described it as a small rectangular box bought at a store like Target or Walmart, typically holding 8 to 12 retail packs.
Upper Deck's 2026-27 Series 1 hockey checklist shows how blasters fit a product. It names store versions such as a Walmart Black Friday Blaster and Amazon Blasters, and it places some cards only in them: a Stencils Orange parallel numbered to 499 goes in all blasters, and a Newest Foundations insert numbered to 999 only in the Amazon version.
If you want a particular card, read the maker's checklist before you buy. In that 2011 answer, Upper Deck said hobby boxes would traditionally carry special inserts at better ratios than retail and might hold some inserts not available at retail, so a blaster and a hobby box of one product can hold different cards.
