Retail box

A retail box is a sealed box sold in larger stores such as Walmart and Target, as against the hobby shops that sell hobby boxes. It usually offers fewer special cards than a hobby box of the same product.

In more detail

Retail product is sold at larger stores such as Walmart and Target, and at convenience stores. Upper Deck describes it as aimed at newer collectors, while hobby product is sold only at specialized hobby shops.

A retail box usually carries fewer special inserts than the hobby box of the same product, and some of a product's inserts are made only for the hobby. A few products go the other way and are made for one channel alone.

Choose by what you want from the box. If you want a product's special inserts, check whether the hobby box is the one that holds them. If you want to open packs of the base set, a retail box does that. Read the box's own label for the pack count.
