Panini Mosaic is a chromium set built around its parallels. The 2025 football edition, released November 7, 2025, has a 400-card base set in five numbered blocks, and each veteran card comes in 47 parallel versions. Many of those colors belong to one box format, so the box decides which colors can turn up.
How is the 2025 Mosaic football base set numbered?
In five blocks, each with its own job:
| Block | Card numbers | Cards | What it holds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base | 1 to 250 | 250 | Veterans and retired players |
| International | 251 to 270 | 20 | 20 players, 17 of whom also have a base-block card |
| Rookie Variations | 271 to 290 | 20 | A second rookie card for 20 rookies |
| Hall of Fame | 291 to 300 | 10 | Retired greats such as Barry Sanders and Peyton Manning |
| Rookies | 301 to 400 | 100 | The 2025 rookie class, each flagged RC |
The two “second card” blocks matter when you shop. All 20 Rookie Variation players also appear in the Rookies block: Cam Ward is card 272 and card 382, and Colston Loveland is 275 and 304. The International block works much the same way: 17 of its 20 players also have a base-block card. Caleb Williams is card 22 in the base block and card 253 in the International block. So a player’s name and “Mosaic” in a listing can mean two different base cards. Read the number.
The checklists name each player’s NFL team, and the Hall of Fame cards use former teams such as the Houston Oilers. Our guide to what counts as a rookie card explains the RC flag.
How many parallels does a Mosaic card have?
Forty-seven for a veteran base card: 18 carry no serial number and 29 are numbered, three of them one of one. Rookies get a couple more, two rookie-only colors.
On the veteran base list, several colors share one print run:
| Print run | Parallels with that run |
|---|---|
| 99 | Blue, No Huddle Blue |
| 25 | Orange Fluorescent, White |
| 20 | Choice Cherry Blossom, No Huddle Pink |
| 15 | Blue Fluorescent, Tessellation |
| 13 | Green Spectris, Pink Spectris (both 1st Off the Line) |
| 10 | Gold, Gold Wave, Green Fluorescent, No Huddle Gold, Pink Fluorescent |
| 8 | Green Sparkle, Choice Black Gold |
| 1 | Black, Choice Nebula, No Huddle Black |
The runs that stand alone are 199 (Orange), 149 (Silver Knight), 96 (Blue Sparkle), 89 (Choice Fusion Red and Yellow), 50 (No Huddle Purple), 49 (Purple), 27 (Red Wave), 24 (Gold Sparkle) and 5 (Gold Glitter). So a card stamped 7/10 could be any of five parallels. Name the color when you buy or sell, and check it against the photos. The table covers veteran base cards, so read a rookie card’s own stamp. Our guide to sports card parallels explains how numbered colors work.
Which colors belong to one box?
Mostly the ones carrying a format’s name: six colors are named No Huddle and five are named Choice. The two Spectris colors come from 1st Off the Line (FOTL) boxes. Red Wave and Gold Wave come from an international hobby box, and Red Camo, which carries no format name, from mega boxes. Unnumbered colors such as Silver, Honeycomb, Blue Scope and White Sparkle carry no format name.
What is in each 2025 Mosaic football box?
| Format | Packs and cards | Boxes per case | Listed per box |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hobby | 10 packs of 15 | 12 | 2 autographs, 5 Silver, 15 other parallels, 20 inserts |
| FOTL | 10 packs of 15 | 12 | 2 autographs, 5 Silver, 20 inserts, one Green Spectris and one Pink Spectris |
| No Huddle | 12 packs of 12 | 20 | 1 autograph, 10 No Huddle parallels, 3 Silver, 5 inserts |
| Mega | 6 packs of 7 | 20 | 10 parallels made for the format, named Red Camo |
Blaster boxes come in 6 packs of 6 cards, 20 boxes to a case.
By Rip.fan’s arithmetic, a hobby box holds 150 cards and the listed items account for 42 of them. Each hobby pack holds two inserts, which fits 20 a box. A Choice box has one autograph. Our guide to hobby and retail boxes explains why formats carry different cards.
What inserts and autographs does 2025 Mosaic have?
There are 21 insert sets. Light It Up and Visionary are new for the NFL, and Micro Mosaic and Stained Glass are super short prints. Kaleidoscopic counts among the tougher sets, and Kaleidoscopic, Micro Mosaic, Stained Glass and Visionary have no parallels. Most other inserts carry their own short ladder of colors.
The autograph sets, with their card counts:
- Rookie Autographs: 80 cards. Each uses the rookie’s base number, so Colston Loveland’s autograph is card 304 like his unsigned rookie card.
- Rookie Scripts: 38 cards.
- Autographs: 36 cards.
- Scripts: 35 cards.
- In Focus Signatures: 25 cards, which include rookies.
- Showtime Signatures: 19 cards on a honeycomb background.
- Future Scripts: 17 cards.
- A Patrick Mahomes set: 3 cards.
Because a rookie autograph shares its number with the unsigned card, the number alone does not tell you which you have. Check for the signature. Our guide to autographs, patches and short prints covers signed cards in general.
How does Mosaic basketball differ?
Mostly in box size. For 2024-25 Mosaic basketball, released July 9, 2025, a hobby box holds 3 packs of 15 cards, 12 boxes to a case, with 2 autographs, 18 base parallels and 6 inserts or insert parallels. That was a change from the year before: the box went from 150 cards to 45, and the autographs from one to two. By Rip.fan’s arithmetic, the listed items account for 26 of the 45 cards.
The base set adds subsets of its own: NBA Debut, City Edition and NBA Greats. Choice and Fast Break boxes have one autograph each, and both carry colors named for their format, as in football. Our guides to Panini Prizm and Panini Select cover two other Panini chromium sets.
How to check a Mosaic card before you buy
- Read the card number and place it in its block: veteran, International, Rookie Variation, Hall of Fame or rookie.
- Name the color, then match the serial number to that color’s run, using the tables above.
- If the color carries a format’s name, such as Choice or No Huddle, you know which box it came from.
- For a rookie, check for a signature, since the autograph shares the card number.
- Measure the borders with our centering checker.
- Price the exact card and color from recent sales, as our guide to finding what a card sold for explains.
Rip.fan’s card price lookup covers English Pokémon cards only, so sold listings are where to price Mosaic. If you sell on Whatnot, the seller fee calculator shows what you keep after its fees. Our guide to reading a sports card checklist explains the codes, the sports cards hub lists our other set guides, and our guides to Topps Finest and SP Authentic cover two more sets from this batch.
