Wizards calls it the culmination of more than a decade of Phyrexian story, with heroes from nearly every plane Magic has visited. The set holds 296 different cards on 382 collector numbers, and some of those numbers hold cards with two faces.

Which cards in the set have two faces?
71 of the 382 collector numbers hold a card with two faces. Those 71 numbers hold 61 different cards: at their first number, 5 are Common, 30 Uncommon, 16 Rare and 10 Mythic Rare. Fifty-one appear once, and ten appear a second time at 292 to 301. Elesh Norn // The Argent Etchings, at 12 and 292, is one example; when you look a card up, search under either face’s name and check the number.
How is March of the Machine numbered?
Collector numbers run from 1 to 387, with a gap at 338 to 342. They group like this:
| Collector numbers | Printings | Cards there |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 266 | 266 | 266 different cards, ending with Urn of Godfire at 266 |
| 267 to 276 | 10 | Ten Land-rarity cards, from Bloodfell Caves to Wind-Scarred Crag |
| 277 to 281 | 5 | Basic lands, one of each type |
| 282 to 291 | 10 | Basic lands again, two more of each type |
| 292 to 319 | 28 | Repeats of 18 Rares and 10 Mythic Rares, the first ten of them two-faced |
| 320 to 322 | 3 | Three Mythic Rares again, Archangel Elspeth (6 and 320) and Wrenn and Realmbreaker (217 and 322) among them |
| 323 to 337 | 15 | 15 cards seen nowhere earlier: 5 Commons, 5 Uncommons and 5 Rares, from Essence of Orthodoxy to Surrak and Goreclaw |
| 343 to 380 | 38 | Repeats of 36 Rares and 2 Mythic Rares, ending with the five Rares from 323 to 337 |
| 381 to 385 | 5 | Five Uncommons again, from Norn’s Inquisitor to Halo Forager |
| 386 and 387 | 2 | Ghalta and Mavren and Omnath, Locus of All, each for a third time |
217 cards have one printing, 72 have two and 7 have three: the five basic land types, Ghalta and Mavren (225, 307 and 386) and Omnath, Locus of All (249, 313 and 387).
What rarities are in March of the Machine?
| Rarity | Cards in MOM | First numbered 1 to 281 | First numbered 323 to 337 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 111 | 106 | 5 |
| Uncommon | 85 | 80 | 5 |
| Rare | 65 | 60 | 5 |
| Mythic Rare | 20 | 20 | None |
| Land | 15 | 15 | None |
The cards column adds up to 296, so no card sits at two rarities. Our Magic card rarities guide explains each rarity symbol.
Which codes came with the set, and what do they hold?
| Code | What it holds | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| MOM | The main set | 296 different cards; sold in Draft, Set and Collector Boosters |
| MUL | Multiverse Legends | 65 cards on 1 to 65: 20 Uncommons, 30 Rares and 15 Mythic Rares; 66 to 130 are foil-etched and 131 to 195 halo foil |
| MOC | The Commander decks | Five decks |
| MAT | The Aftermath | 50 different cards; sold in its own boosters from May 12 |
Multiverse Legends is an extra sheet of reprinted characters, each shown in the special frame of its home plane, and some come in halo foil, a treatment new with this set. Our Magic foil types guide covers foil-etched, textured and other named foils, and notes halo foil.
What special versions does Wizards name?
Beyond Multiverse Legends, the set has these:
- Home-plane frames on new cards: characters from around the Multiverse shown in a special frame from their home plane’s earlier set, or in a new one for a set that had none at the time.
- Extended-art and borderless planeswalker cards, which return.
The variant gallery gathers these treatments with the set’s promo cards.
What products came out for March of the Machine?
- Commander Decks: five.
- Jumpstart Boosters, sold in a display.
- Prerelease Packs: a foil-stamped promo card from the set, plus an extra legendary promo card from the Commander set.
- Bundle: eight Set Boosters plus accessories.
- Collector Boosters, Draft Boosters and Set Boosters, each sold in a display. Our Collector Boosters guide and the Collector Booster entry explain that pack type.
The set came out before Wizards folded Draft and Set Boosters into the Play Booster; our Wilds of Eldraine guide explains that change.
What is The Aftermath?
A small follow-up set of 50 new cards under the code MAT. It was sold in five-card boosters, in three products: Epilogue Boosters, each with a foil and a Showcase card, Collector Boosters, and a Bundle of eight Epilogue Boosters. Every one of the 50 cards comes in a regular and a Showcase version.
The Aftermath’s 230 numbers hold the 50 cards (15 Uncommons, 25 Rares and 10 Mythic Rares) at 1 to 50, all 50 again in the same order at 51 to 100 and at 101 to 150, the 35 Rares and Mythic Rares again at 151 to 185, and 45 more repeats at 186 to 230.
How does it compare with Dominaria United and Phyrexia: All Will Be One?
The three sets side by side:
| Dominaria United | Phyrexia: All Will Be One | March of the Machine | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Release, in stores | September 9, 2022 | February 10, 2023 | April 21, 2023 |
| Numbers with two faces | None | None | 71 |
| Different cards | 271 | 271 | 296 |
| Cards first listed above the basic lands | 5 Rares | 5 Rares | 15: 5 Commons, 5 Uncommons, 5 Rares |
| Numbers skipped | None | 345 to 369 | 338 to 342 |
| Commander code | DMC | ONC | MOC |
What should you check before you buy?
- MOM, MUL, MOC or MAT. Each code has its own list, so a listing should give the code and the collector number.
- Both faces. A two-faced card is listed under two names, and ten have two printings.
- Multiverse Legends above 65. Foil-etched and halo foil versions carry the gallery’s higher numbers.
- Factory wrap. A booster box is sealed product; our guide to storing sealed product explains how to keep it that way.
How do you check March of the Machine card prices?
Rip.fan’s card price lookup and price pages do not include Magic; they list English Pokémon cards only. For a MOM card, start from the code and the collector number, then look only at sold listings for that exact printing and finish, and note the date of each sale. Our guides to checking Magic card prices and finding what a card sold for set out the method, and spotting fake Magic cards covers the checks before you pay.
The seller fee calculator shows what a sale leaves you after fees on TCGplayer or Whatnot, and the trading card hub has more on Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece and Lorcana.
