Bloomburrow went on sale on August 2, 2024, under the set code BLB. Wizards’ preview introduced Mabel and her fellow courageous critters and warned of the fearsome Calamity Beasts. The set has 397 printings, which are 279 different cards.
When did Bloomburrow come out?
| What | Date |
|---|---|
| Debut stream and the start of previews | July 9, 2024 |
| Set release | August 2, 2024 |
| Bloomburrow tins | December 2024 |
Bloomburrow arrived after Outlaws of Thunder Junction (April 19, 2024) and before Duskmourn: House of Horror (September 27, 2024). The Commander cards are separate, as Bloomburrow Commander, with 360 cards under the code BLC. Our Magic set release dates guide covers the 2025 to 2027 sets.
How is Bloomburrow numbered?
Collector numbers run from 1 to 397 with no gaps, and each number holds one card, so the total is 397. Grouped by collector number:
| Collector numbers | Printings | Cards |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 261 | 261 | 261 different cards, with 10 nonbasic lands at 252 to 261 |
| 262 to 281 | 20 | Basic lands, four of each type |
| 282 to 286 | 5 | The five Season cards again, such as Season of the Burrow from 29 |
| 287 to 336 | 50 | Repeats of earlier cards, Mabel, Heir to Cragflame at 336 among them |
| 337 to 340 | 4 | Three Tree City, four more times |
| 341 to 368 | 28 | More repeats, with Lumra, Bellow of the Woods at 342 and 343 |
| 369 to 378 | 10 | Basic lands again, two more of each type |
| 379 to 397 | 19 | 13 cards seen nowhere earlier in the list, and 6 repeats |
So a high number usually means a card you have met lower down, but not always. Bria, Riptide Rogue at 379 is a Mythic Rare with a single printing, and the same stretch brings in names such as Serra Redeemer and Giant Growth, plus two lands, Blossoming Sands and Swiftwater Cliffs, at 396 and 397.
Which cards have the most printings?
194 cards have one printing, 70 have two and 8 have three. One has four: Lumra, Bellow of the Woods, at 183, 293, 342 and 343. One has five: Three Tree City, a Rare land at 260 with four more printings at 337 to 340. The five basic land types have six each, four in the 262 to 281 block and two at 369 to 378. The three-printing group includes Mabel, Heir to Cragflame (224, 336 and 351) and Thundertrap Trainer (78, 307 and 386).
What rarities are in Bloomburrow?
Counted by rarity, each card appears once, so these are counts of cards:
| Rarity | Cards in BLB | First numbered 1 to 261 | First numbered 379 to 397 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 88 | 81 | 7 |
| Uncommon | 100 | 100 | None |
| Rare | 64 | 60 | 4 |
| Mythic Rare | 22 | 20 | 2 |
| Land | 5 | None (the basics start at 262) | None |
The first column adds up to 279, the same as the number of different cards, so no card appears under two rarities. The ten nonbasic lands at 252 to 261 carry ordinary rarities rather than the Land rarity: three are Rare (Fabled Passage, Fountainport and Three Tree City), five are Uncommon villages, such as Lilypad Village, and two are Common. What each rarity symbol looks like is covered in our Magic card rarities guide.
How does Bloomburrow compare with Duskmourn?
Both 2024 sets side by side:
| Bloomburrow (BLB) | Duskmourn: House of Horror (DSK) | |
|---|---|---|
| Released | August 2, 2024 | September 27, 2024 |
| Total | 397 | 451 |
| Collector numbers | 1 to 397 | 1 to 417 |
| Different cards | 279 | 276 |
| Common, Uncommon, Rare and Mythic Rare cards in the first stretch (1 to 261, and 1 to 276) | 81, 100, 60, 20 | 81, 100, 60, 20 |
| Basic land printings before the repeats begin | 20 (262 to 281), four of each type | 5 (272 to 276), one of each type |
| Land-rarity cards other than basics | None | 10 |
| New cards above the repeats | 13 | None |
| Cards at two rarities | None | 5 |
| Commander companion | BLC, 360 cards | DSC, 379 cards |
The two sets share the same mix of 261 Common, Uncommon, Rare and Mythic Rare cards. Duskmourn’s total runs higher partly because both halves of its two-part room cards are counted, as our Duskmourn guide explains.
What products came out for Bloomburrow?
Wizards’ preview schedule named Play Boosters, Collector Boosters and Commander Decks for preorder, “and more”. It also listed four Bloomburrow Commander decks, by name and colors:
- Animated Army (Red-Green)
- Family Matters (Blue-Red-White)
- Peace Offering (White-Blue-Green)
- Squirreled Away (Black-Green)
For a Bloomburrow display box, read the label on the box for its contents and pack count. Each type of product has general figures, written for every set:
| Product type | Cards of rare or higher | Foil and special cards |
|---|---|---|
| Play Booster | At least 1 | At least 1 foil card |
| Collector Booster | 5 to 6 | 8 to 10 foil cards or more, with showcase, borderless and extended-art cards |
| Commander Deck | At least 10 new Rares and Mythic Rares | 2 traditional foils, a foil-etched thick display card and a Collector Booster sample pack of 2 special treatment cards |
Bundles are packed with Play Boosters and hold one foil alternate-art promo card.
What was in the Bloomburrow tins?
Wizards announced them on December 2, 2024, for select Walmart stores, Walmart.com and other select stores while supplies lasted, in the US and Canada and in English only. Each tin came in one of three art designs and held:
- 2 Bloomburrow Play Boosters
- 1 Play Booster each from three other sets, Magic: The Gathering Foundations and Outlaws of Thunder Junction among them
- 2 traditional foil promo cards with the PRM set symbol: Liliana of the Dark Realms and Patchwork Banner
That is five packs from four sets, so a tin is not a Bloomburrow-only product. Patchwork Banner also sits in the main set at 247. Our Play Booster entry and our Magic Collector Boosters guide explain the two pack types, and the promo card entry covers stamped extras.
What should you check before you buy?
- BLB or BLC. The Commander cards have their own list, under the code BLC. A listing that names only the set should also give the code and the collector number.
- The exact number. Three Tree City exists at 260 and again at 337 to 340, and the basic lands have six printings each, so a card name alone does not pin down the printing.
- What a tin holds. Only two of its five packs are Bloomburrow.
- Factory wrap. Any booster box is sealed product; our guide to storing sealed product explains how to keep it that way.
How do you check Bloomburrow card prices?
Rip.fan’s card price lookup and price pages do not include Magic; they list English Pokémon cards only. For a Bloomburrow card, start from the code and the collector number, because one name can cover up to six printings. Then look only at sold listings for that exact printing and finish, foil against foil, and note the date of each sale. Our guides to checking Magic card prices and finding what a card sold for set out the method, and our guide to spotting fake Magic cards covers the checks before you pay.

What are the seasonal basic lands in Bloomburrow?
Bloomburrow has 20 full-art basic lands: each of the 5 basic land types in spring, summer, autumn and winter art.
What are Imagine: Courageous Critters cards?
They are 24 cards that redraw Planeswalkers and creatures from across Magic as Bloomburrow animals. Collector Boosters carry 20 of them; the other 4 are planeswalkers printed in traditional foil inside the Commander Decks, such as Tamiyo, Field Researcher in Peace Offering.
Where do Bloomburrow raised foil anime cards come from?
Only from Collector Boosters. Bloomburrow has 21 raised foil anime cards, among them Mitsuhiro Arita's Lumra, Bellow of the Woods. Japanese Collector Boosters hold them in Japanese, and every other language holds them in English.
How many Bloomburrow cards come in showcase woodland or field notes art?
The showcase woodland frame, styled after fairy tale books, covers 42 cards: 35 rares and 7 mythic rares. Field notes art, drawn like journal sketches, covers 8 Calamity Beasts: 7 mythic rares and 1 rare.
Do Bloomburrow Play Boosters hold The List cards?
No. Starting with Bloomburrow, de-archived List cards with the Planeswalker stamp left Play Boosters. Special Guests cards, code SPG, fill that slot instead, in place of a common.
