OP-04 is the One Piece booster called Kingdoms of Intrigue, and its theme is the Alabasta and Dressrosa arcs of the story. The English set came out on September 22, 2023 at USD $4.49 a pack, 118 days after Japan’s OP-04 of May 27, 2023. It has 124+1 card types. Three changes stand out: only six Leaders, all of them two-colored; five Special cards; and a DON!! card counted after the plus sign. Its card lists hold 149 entries, five fewer than OP-03’s 154.
When was OP-04 released, and at what price?
| English edition | Japanese edition | |
|---|---|---|
| Release day | Friday, September 22, 2023 | Saturday, May 27, 2023 |
| List price for one pack | USD $4.49 | 220 yen with tax |
| Card type count | 124+1 | 124+1 |
| Alt-art count | 25 | 25 |
The Japanese edition has 6 cards per pack.
OP-04 is where the pack price went up: English OP-01, OP-02 and OP-03 each listed at $4.19, and Japan’s OP-03 at 198 yen. English OP-04 came after English OP-03 (June 30, 2023), and Japan’s came after its OP-03 of February 11, 2023. For the whole run of boosters in both languages, see our One Piece set release dates.
What is new in OP-04?
Four things:
- Two colors on every Leader. All Leader cards are multicolored, and every Leader comes in a pairing of two colors never used before.
- Fewer Leaders. Six, after eight in each of the first three boosters.
- A DON!! card. OP-04 counts one after the plus sign, and OP-01 to OP-03 count none. It is not on the card list.
- Five Special cards, one more than OP-03.
Starter decks ST-08 and ST-09 were released in August 2023.
Which Leaders does OP-04 have?
Six, each in two colors:
| Number | Leader | Colors |
|---|---|---|
| OP04-001 | Nefeltari Vivi | Red and blue |
| OP04-019 | Donquixote Doflamingo | Green and purple |
| OP04-020 | Issho | Green and black |
| OP04-039 | Rebecca | Blue and black |
| OP04-040 | Queen | Blue and yellow |
| OP04-058 | Crocodile | Purple and yellow |
That holds on the English boosters. Six colors make 15 possible pairs. The first three boosters used seven of them: red-green and blue-purple in OP-01; red-black, green-blue and purple-black in OP-02; green-yellow and black-yellow in OP-03. OP-04’s six are all new, which brings the total to 13. The last two pairs came in the next two sets: red and yellow with Belo Betty (OP05-002) and red and purple with Uta (OP06-001).
How many cards are in OP-04?
| Rarity | Types listed |
|---|---|
| Special card | 5 |
| Secret Rare | 2 |
| Super Rare | 10 |
| Rare | 26 |
| Uncommon | 30 |
| Common | 45 |
| Leader | 6 |
| Total | 124 |
| DON!! card, the +1 | 1 |
The 119 numbers from OP04-001 to OP04-119 cover the six usual rarities. By type, they are 6 Leaders, 93 Characters, 19 Events and a single Stage, Corrida Coliseum (OP04-096). All five Special cards are Characters.
How is OP-04 numbered?
In color blocks, with the Leaders at the head of the block of their first color. In number order:
| Number range | Contents |
|---|---|
| OP04-001 | Nefeltari Vivi, the red and blue Leader |
| OP04-002 to 018 | Red cards |
| OP04-019 and 020 | Two Leaders: Donquixote Doflamingo (green and purple) and Issho (green and black) |
| OP04-021 to 038 | Green cards |
| OP04-039 and 040 | Two Leaders: Rebecca (blue and black) and Queen (blue and yellow) |
| OP04-041 to 057 | Blue cards |
| OP04-058 | Crocodile, the purple and yellow Leader |
| OP04-059 to 076 | Purple cards |
| OP04-077 to 096 | Black cards, with no Leader at the head |
| OP04-097 to 117 | Yellow cards, with no Leader at the head |
| OP04-118 | Nefeltari Vivi, a red Secret Rare |
| OP04-119 | Donquixote Rosinante, a green Secret Rare |
Black and yellow show up only as second colors on the Leaders, so their blocks start straight in on Characters. Events close out every block, and the black block adds the Stage after them. For the term itself, see the card number entry.
What are OP-04’s Special cards?
New versions of five earlier cards. Each sits on the OP-04 list under the earlier card’s number, marked SP CARD:
| Printed number | Character | Color | Home set of the number |
|---|---|---|---|
| OP01-047 | Trafalgar Law | Green | OP-01, a Super Rare there |
| OP01-078 | Boa Hancock | Blue | OP-01, a Super Rare there |
| OP02-004 | Edward.Newgate | Red | OP-02, a Super Rare there |
| OP02-085 | Magellan | Purple | OP-02, a Super Rare there |
| OP02-099 | Sakazuki | Black | OP-02, a Super Rare there |
Three of OP-03’s four Special cards carried starter deck numbers; none of OP-04’s does. In OP-01 and OP-02, each of these five numbers already has a standard print and one alt-art. With the Special card, every one of them covers three entries across two sets. Trafalgar Law adds a twist: OP-04 also has its own Law at OP04-087, so a listing that says “OP-04 Law” can mean either card.
How many alt-art versions does OP-04 have?
Twenty-five sit on OP-04 numbers.
| Standard print’s rarity | Numbers | With at least one alt-art | Alt-art entries |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leader | 6 | 6 | 6 |
| Super Rare | 10 | 10 | 11 |
| Secret Rare | 2 | 2 | 2 |
| Rare | 26 | 6 | 6 |
| Uncommon | 30 | 0 | 0 |
| Common | 45 | 0 | 0 |
| Total | 119 | 24 | 25 |
All six Leaders, all ten Super Rares and both Secret Rares come with one, and Sabo (OP04-083) comes with two. The ten Super Rares are Pell (OP04-013), Sugar (024), Donquixote Doflamingo (031), Kaido (044), Crocodile (060), Ms. All Sunday (064), Sabo (083), Monkey.D.Luffy (090), Sanji (104) and Yamato (112). The Rares with an alt-art include Diamante (OP04-028), Kyros (082) and Capone“Gang”Bege (100).
The sum is tidy: 124 card types plus 25 alt-arts make the 149 entries, with the DON!! card off the list. One way to tell an alt-art apart, from our One Piece rarities guide: Bandai’s image of the OP04-013 alt-art has a small star by the rarity mark, which the alt-arts of OP01-013 and OP03-013 lack. The glossary defines alternate art.
How does OP-04 sit between OP-03 and OP-05?
Three sets in a row:
| OP-03 | OP-04 | OP-05 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| English release | June 30, 2023 | September 22, 2023 | December 8, 2023 |
| Japanese release | February 11, 2023 | May 27, 2023 | August 26, 2023 |
| Card types | 127 | 124+1 | 126+1 |
| Leaders | 8, two of them two-colored | 6, all two-colored | 6, four of them two-colored |
| Uncommons | 32 | 30 | 30 |
| Special cards | 4 | 5 | 6 |
| DON!! card on the page | No | Yes | Yes |
| Entries on the English card list | 154 | 149 | 154 |
So OP-04 has the shortest card list of the first five boosters. The next set, covered in our OP-05 guide, kept six Leaders but went back to some single-color ones.
Which character names repeat in OP-04?
Seven names sit under two OP-04 numbers each:
- Leader and rarer card: Nefeltari Vivi is both a Leader (OP04-001) and a Secret Rare (118). Donquixote Doflamingo (019 and 031) and Crocodile (058 and 060) are each a Leader and a Super Rare.
- Leader and lower rarity: Rebecca is a Leader (039) and a Rare (092), and Queen a Leader (040) and an Uncommon (046).
- Two rarities: Sanji is a Common (007) and a Super Rare (104), and Monkey.D.Luffy an Uncommon (014) and a Super Rare (090).
Add Trafalgar Law’s Special card under an OP-01 number, and a name alone rarely pins down an OP-04 card.
Do the English and Japanese OP-04 sets match?
They do. The two sets share all 124 numbers, give each the same rarity and card type, and run to 149 entries apiece. What differs is the release day and the price. Later sets are covered in our guide to Japanese and English One Piece cards.
How do you price an OP-04 card?
Rip.fan’s card price lookup is for English Pokémon cards alone, so OP-04 cards need sold listings. A short routine:
- Pin the number to one entry. OP04-083 alone is three Sabo cards, all marked SR, and OP01-047 is OP-01’s standard print, OP-01’s alt-art or OP-04’s Special card. Compare the photo with each image on Bandai’s list.
- Note the edition. English and Japanese copies share numbers and rarities, so the listing has to say which it is.
- Take sold prices with dates. Asking prices are not sales; our guides to market, listed and sold prices and valuing a One Piece card go through the difference.
- Rule out fakes. Our guide to spotting fake One Piece cards lists the checks. A booster box counts as sealed product only with its factory seal unbroken.
