OP-03 is the One Piece booster called Pillars of Strength, the third in English. It came out in English on June 30, 2023 at USD $4.19 a pack, 139 days after the Japanese OP-03 of February 11, 2023. Bandai counts 127 card types, and two kinds of card appear in a booster for the first time: yellow cards and Special cards. Its card lists show 154 entries, the same total as OP-01 and OP-02, but built a different way, with 4 Special cards and 27 alt-art versions and no extra box card listed.
When did OP-03 come out, and what did it cost?
The days figure is Rip.fan’s arithmetic.
| English | Japanese | |

| Code | OP-03 | OP-03 |
| Release | Friday, June 30, 2023 | Saturday, February 11, 2023 |
| Price per pack | USD $4.19 list price | 198 yen, tax included |
| Card types | 127 | 127 |
A Japanese pack holds 6 cards plus an index card, and the Japanese set has 27 parallel versions.
English OP-03 followed English OP-02 (March 10, 2023), and Japan’s followed its OP-02 of November 4, 2022. In English, the starter deck ST-07 came out alongside the booster; Japan’s ST-07 went on sale in January, before it. Our One Piece set release dates guide follows every booster, and our guide to One Piece booster box contents covers pack sizes.
What is new in OP-03?
The booster brings new yellow cards and builds the set around foes the Straw Hat crew met in three parts of the story: East Blue, Water Seven and Whole Cake Island. It also brings new color pairs among the multicolor Leaders.
- Yellow. 24 cards are yellow alone: the 23 numbers from OP03-099 to OP03-121, plus the Secret Rare Charlotte Katakuri at OP03-123. Neither OP-01’s nor OP-02’s card list has a yellow card.
- Two new color pairs. The two-color Leaders are Arlong (green and yellow) and Charlotte Linlin (black and yellow), pairs that OP-01 and OP-02 do not have.
- Special cards. Four entries carry the label SP CARD, the first Special cards in any booster. OP-01 and OP-02 have none.
The 123 cards with OP-03 numbers are 8 Leaders, 89 Characters, 23 Events and 3 Stages, and all four Special cards are Characters.
How does OP-03 compare with the sets around it?
OP-04 is included to show where the counts went next.
| OP-01 | OP-02 | OP-03 | OP-04 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| English release | December 2, 2022 | March 10, 2023 | June 30, 2023 | September 22, 2023 |
| Card types | 121 | 121 | 127 | 124+1 |
| Leaders | 8 | 8 | 8 | 6 |
| Uncommons | 30 | 30 | 32 | 30 |
| Special cards | None | None | 4 | 5 |
| Parallel or alt-art types | 27 | 27 | 27 | 25 |
OP-01 has red, green, blue and purple cards, OP-02 adds black and OP-03 adds yellow; each OP-01 and OP-02 box holds one extra card, from 6 kinds; and the English card list has 154 entries for each of OP-01, OP-02 and OP-03.
OP-04’s +1 is a DON!! card, counted apart from the rest. OP-03 is the set where the totals start to change shape: two more Uncommons, the first Special cards, and no extra box card listed. Our guide to One Piece rarities follows the same counts into later sets.
How many cards are in OP-03?
The count is the same in English and Japanese:
| Rarity | Card types |
|---|---|
| Special card | 4 |
| Secret Rare | 2 |
| Super Rare | 10 |
| Rare | 26 |
| Uncommon | 32 |
| Common | 45 |
| Leader | 8 |
| Total | 127 |
The 123 cards numbered OP03-001 to OP03-123 cover the six usual rarities, and the 4 Special cards make up the rest.
How is OP-03 numbered?
In color blocks, with each block’s Leaders at the front:
| Numbers | Color | Leaders |
|---|---|---|
| OP03-001 to 020 | Red | Portgas.D.Ace, OP03-001 |
| OP03-021 | Green | Kuro |
| OP03-022 | Green/Yellow | Arlong |
| OP03-023 to 039 | Green | None |
| OP03-040 to 057 | Blue | Nami, OP03-040 |
| OP03-058 to 075 | Purple | Iceburg, OP03-058 |
| OP03-076 | Black | Rob Lucci |
| OP03-077 | Black/Yellow | Charlotte Linlin |
| OP03-078 to 098 | Black | None |
| OP03-099 to 121 | Yellow | Charlotte Katakuri, OP03-099 |
| OP03-122 | Blue | None; this is Sogeking, a Secret Rare |
| OP03-123 | Yellow | None; this is Charlotte Katakuri, a Secret Rare |
The blocks run from 18 numbers (blue and purple) to 23 (black and yellow). Every block ends with its Events, and the red, purple and black blocks then close with a Stage: Striker (OP03-020), Galley-La Company (075) and Enies Lobby (098). The card number entry defines the term.
What are OP-03’s Special cards?
New versions of four cards from earlier products. Bandai’s list files each one under its original number with the label SP CARD:
| Number on the list | Card | Color | Where the number comes from |
|---|---|---|---|
| OP01-051 | Eustass“Captain”Kid | Green | OP-01, where it is a Super Rare |
| ST01-012 | Monkey.D.Luffy | Red | The starter deck ST-01 |
| ST03-009 | Donquixote Doflamingo | Blue | The starter deck ST-03 |
| ST04-003 | Kaido | Purple | The starter deck ST-04 |
So the number on an OP-03 Special card names an earlier product, not this booster. OP01-051 shows how far that goes: OP-01 has its standard print and one alt-art, and OP-03 adds the Special card, three entries under one number across two sets. Our guide to One Piece rarities shows how later sets mark SP cards on the card itself.
How many alt-art versions does OP-03 have?
Twenty-seven on the OP-03 numbers:
| Base rarity | Card numbers | Numbers with an alt-art | Alt-art entries |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leader | 8 | 8 | 8 |
| Super Rare | 10 | 10 | 10 |
| Secret Rare | 2 | 2 | 3 |
| Rare | 26 | 6 | 6 |
| Uncommon | 32 | 0 | 0 |
| Common | 45 | 0 | 0 |
| Total | 123 | 26 | 27 |
Every Leader, Super Rare and Secret Rare has at least one, and Sogeking (OP03-122) has two. The ten Super Rares are Marco (OP03-013), Krieg (025), Usopp (041), Paulie (066), Issho (078), Kaku (080), Rob Lucci (092), Charlotte Cracker (108), Charlotte Perospero (113) and Charlotte Linlin (114). The six Rares with an alt-art include Zeff (OP03-047), Kalifa (081) and Charlotte Pudding (112). Unlike OP-01 and OP-02, no Common or Uncommon has one.
The arithmetic is simpler than in the first two sets. The 27 alt-art entries equal the 27 parallel versions Bandai counts in Japanese, and 127 types plus 27 versions make the 154 entries. In OP-01 and OP-02 the extra entries came to 33, which matches each set’s 27 parallels plus its 6 kinds of box card. These sums are Rip.fan’s arithmetic. Our alternate art entry covers the term across card games.
How do you tell an alt-art from the standard print?
By the art. Our guide to One Piece rarities notes that on Bandai’s images the alt-art of OP03-013 shows no star by the rarity mark, while a later example, OP04-013, has one. So set the card beside the standard print on Bandai’s card list before you trust a listing’s label.
Which names need a second look?
Seven names appear under more than one OP-03 number. Rob Lucci has three: a Rare (OP03-071), a Leader (076) and a Super Rare (092). Charlotte Katakuri is both a Leader (099) and a Secret Rare (123), and Charlotte Linlin both a Leader (077) and a Super Rare (114). Add the Special cards, which reuse names such as Monkey.D.Luffy and Kaido under other products’ numbers, and a name alone tells a buyer little.
Are the English and Japanese OP-03 the same set?
On the card lists, yes. The English and Japanese lists have the same 127 numbers, the same rarity and card type for each, and the same 154 entries, Special cards included. The differences are the release date, the price and the pack size. Our guide to Japanese and English One Piece cards covers how the two languages differ in later sets.
How do you check OP-03 card prices?
Rip.fan’s card price lookup covers English Pokémon cards only, so price an OP-03 card from sold listings:
- Pin down the version. Search the number on Bandai’s card list and match the art. OP03-122 brings up three Secret Rares of Sogeking, and a card numbered OP01-051 can be OP-01’s standard print, its alt-art or OP-03’s Special card.
- Match the language. The lists carry the same cards in both languages, so check which one a listing is for.
- Use dated sold prices. Our guides to checking a One Piece card’s value and market, listed and sold prices explain which figure to trust.
- Check it is genuine. See spotting fake One Piece cards, and buy any booster box as sealed product with its seal intact.
If you plan to grade a card, our guide to grading Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh! and One Piece cards covers the graders. The set before this one has its own guide, One Piece OP-02, and the trading card hub lists our latest trading card guides.
