A One Piece booster box holds 24 packs, the count for English OP-17 and OP-09 boxes and for the Japanese OP-17 box. How many cards each pack holds depends on the language. A Japanese pack holds 6 cards, and an English pack holds 12. Cards are packed at random.
What is in a One Piece booster box?
| English box | Japanese box | |
|---|---|---|
| Packs per box | 24 (retailer listings for OP-17 and OP-09) | 24 (a Tokyo retailer, reading Bandai’s OP-17 box image) |
| Cards per pack | 12 (retailer listings) | 6 (Bandai) |
| Cards per box, by arithmetic | 288 | 144 |
| Pack price, OP-16 | USD $4.99 MSRP | 220 yen, tax included |
| Pack price, EB-05 and OP-18 | USD $4.99 MSRP | 240 yen, tax included |
| Release date, OP-16 | June 12, 2026 | May 30, 2026 |
| Release date, OP-18 | November 20, 2026 | November 21, 2026 |
The cards-per-box row multiplies packs by cards per pack. Each column uses at least one retailer figure, so treat it as an estimate.
How do the English and Japanese editions compare?
The card counts match across the two languages: OP-16 has 126+1 types in both, and OP-18 has 127+1 in both. Bandai says global simultaneous releases begin with OP-17, its August 2026 set. In Japan, OP-16, OP-18 and the Extra Booster EB-05 each have 6 cards per pack.
How do you read a One Piece card number?
Each card carries a product code followed by its own number. Bandai’s English card list prints the code, the rarity label and the card type together, as in OP17-001, a Leader. The letters name a kind of product: OP for the numbered booster packs such as OP-17, EB for Extra Boosters such as EB-01, and ST for starter decks such as ST-01. The number after the dash places the card within that product. The code does not always name the booster a card came out of. The list’s entries for OP-17 include EB04-061, a Secret Rare, and SP cards numbered EB04-007, OP12-056 and OP13-028, so a set can hold cards that carry another product’s code.
The code alone does not tell you which version you hold, as the section on parallels below shows. Read it with the rarity label and the art.
What rarities are in a One Piece set?
Bandai’s Japanese page for OP-16 gives a count for every rarity. The codes in the second column are the labels Bandai’s English card list prints on each card.
| Rarity | Label on the card list | Cards in OP-16 |
|---|---|---|
| Common | C | 45 |
| Uncommon | UC | 30 |
| Rare | R | 26 |
| Super Rare | SR | 10 |
| Leader | L | 6 |
| Special card | SP CARD | 6 |
| Secret Rare | SEC | 2 |
| Treasure Rare | TR | 1 |
| DON!! card | Counted apart | 1 |
The first eight rows add up to 126, so the DON!! card is the +1 in the set’s 126+1 total. OP-18 is listed at 127+1.
How does an Extra Booster differ?
An Extra Booster has its own mix. Bandai’s Japanese page for EB-05, dated October 31, 2026 in Japan (October 30 in English), lists 75 cards in six rarities, plus 2 DON!! cards:
| Rarity | Cards in EB-05 |
|---|---|
| Common | 29 |
| Rare | 21 |
| Super Rare | 9 |
| Special card | 8 |
| Leader | 7 |
| Secret Rare | 1 |
| DON!! card | 2 |
EB-05’s list has no Uncommon and no Treasure Rare, and it carries more Leaders than OP-16 in a smaller set. The pack is still 6 cards in Japanese and priced at USD $4.99 in English.
How do parallel cards work?
In One Piece, a parallel is another version of a card. Some card numbers appear more than once. In OP-17, OP17-001, a Leader, appears twice, and OP17-005, a Super Rare, appears three times. OP17-040 appears once as a Rare and once as a Treasure Rare, under the same name. So one number can cover more than one print.
That has two results for anyone buying or selling singles:
- The number may not identify the version. Where a number is listed more than once, the number and rarity label alone do not tell you which print you hold. Check the art, and name the version when you price it.
- A Treasure Rare can be a version of a Rare. OP17-040 is listed once as a Rare and once as a Treasure Rare, so the label, not the number, marks the Treasure Rare out.
Some sets also get a featured parallel. OP-16’s Super Parallel cards are the three admirals: Kuzan (OP16-063), Sakazuki (OP16-065) and Borsalino (OP16-073). The English card list lets you filter by illustration type, with comic, animation, original illustration and other as the choices. Our alternate art entry explains how One Piece layers these versions on top of a base rarity.
Does Bandai publish card rates?
No. Cards in OP-18 are packed at random, duplicates of one card may appear, and a full set may be hard to assemble.
A rate you meet elsewhere is not a Bandai figure, so ask how it was counted.
How should you buy a One Piece box?
A few checks follow from the figures above:
- Confirm the language and the pack size. By the figures above, a Japanese box of 24 packs holds 144 cards, half the English count of 288. Check the count for the set you are buying, since the 24-pack figure comes from OP-17 and OP-09 listings.
- Match the set. Rarities and the featured parallel cards differ from set to set, and an Extra Booster such as EB-05 has no Uncommons or Treasure Rare at all.
- Buy it sealed. A booster box is sealed product, and its seal should be the maker’s. Our guide to spotting a resealed pack covers Pokémon products.
- Price singles by version. Use the card number, the rarity label and the art together, then the method in our guide to finding what a card sold for.
Rip.fan’s card price pages cover English Pokémon cards only, so they give no One Piece prices. If you also collect Pokémon, our guide to Japanese and English Pokémon cards compares the two languages there. The booster pack entry explains that term, and for other card games, see the trading card hub.
