A Yu-Gi-Oh! booster box is a sealed display of packs from one set, and what the packs hold depends on the kind of set. Konami gives the price and contents of a pack but no pack count for a box, so the box’s own label has to supply that count. A pack holds 9 cards in a core set, going by Supreme Darkness, 7 in 60-card and Maze sets, 5 in Rarity Collection V and the annual June all-foil set, and 4 in the 2026 World Championship pack.

What does a Yu-Gi-Oh! booster box hold?

Konami lists each set with a set size, a pack price and, for most sets, what each pack contains. The reliable part is the pack, so start there.

Kind of set Example, US launch date Cards a pack What each pack holds MSRP a pack
Core set, 100 cards Beyond the Brave, October 9, 2026 9, as stated for Supreme Darkness At least a Super Rare plus eight Commons (TCGplayer, 2021) $4.49
60-card set Glorious Victors, December 4, 2026 7 1 foil card and 6 Rares $4.49
Maze set Maze of Muertos, February 20, 2026 7 1 foil card and 6 Rares $4.49
Rarity Collection Rarity Collection V, April 17, 2026 5 4 from the main card pool, then a variant art card $5.99
Annual June all-foil set June 5, 2026 5 1 Secret Rare and 4 Ultra Rares $4.49
World Championship limited pack August 29, 2026 4 From a 21-card set $4.99

Two cautions apply to the core row. Konami gives 9 cards a pack for Supreme Darkness, a core set launched January 24, 2025, but not for the later core sets (Duelist’s Advance, Burst Protocol, Beyond the Brave and Immortal Phoenix), so check the pack itself. The pack makeup comes from TCGplayer’s rarity guide of October 2021, not from Konami.

How do you work out what a box holds?

Multiply. The box’s label or the listing gives the number of packs, the table gives the cards in each pack, and the box total is the two multiplied together. The packs also fix part of the mix before you count anything: every pack of a 60-card or Maze set holds one foil card and six Rares, so such a box holds one foil card and six Rares for every pack in it.

The same sum works for the other products, with their own twists: the fifth card of a Rarity Collection V pack is always a variant art card, and every pack of the June set is all foil.

A box of a 60-card set holds one foil card per pack.

What do the set lists look like?

The recent pattern by kind of set:

  • Core sets. Beyond the Brave holds 100 cards: 50 Commons, 26 Super Rares, 14 Ultra Rares and 10 Secret Rares. Five of them also come as extended art Ultra Rares and Starlight Rares, and 20 more also come as Starlight Rares. Immortal Phoenix, due January 29, 2027, lists the same makeup, and Burst Protocol, from February 2026, the same four rarities with 25 cards also as Starlight Rares.
  • 60-card sets. Glorious Victors holds 37 Rares, some of them also as Super Rare upgrades, plus 10 Super Rares, 10 Ultra Rares and 3 Secret Rares. Fifteen cards also come as Collector’s Rares and 10 as Starlight Rares. Justice Hunters, from August 2025, had no Secret Rares: 40 Rares, 10 Super Rares and 10 Ultra Rares.
  • Maze sets. Maze of the Master, from March 2025, held 112 cards, the largest of Konami’s Maze sets: 70 Rares, 21 Super Rares, 13 Ultra Rares, 6 Secret Rares and 2 Quarter Century Secret Rares, with 16 cards also as Collector’s Rares.
  • Rarity Collection V. A set size of 152: a main pool of about 80 cards in several foil rarities, plus 68 variant art cards for the fifth position, 10 of them the first extended art cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG.
  • The annual June all-foil set. A set size of 146, and every pack is all foil.

The booster pack entry covers packs in general.

Does Konami publish card rates for a box?

Only for some packs, and none for a whole box. For Rarity Collection V, Konami charts the makeup of each pack, with a rate for the rarer foils in most positions; our guide to Yu-Gi-Oh! rarities sets those rates out.

When Starlight Rares came back to core sets in Duelist’s Advance, in July 2025, Konami said only that they would turn up at about the same rate as Quarter Century Secret Rares had over the previous couple of years, with no figure. A rate describes many packs taken together; it does not promise that any one box holds a given card.

When does a new box reach stores?

Two days early at some stores. Konami lists a separate launch date for its Official Tournament Stores. Beyond the Brave reached them on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, and everyone else on Friday, October 9. Glorious Victors follows on December 2 and 4, 2026, and Immortal Phoenix on January 27 and 29, 2027. Of these sets, the World Championship limited pack was the exception, with the same date, August 29, 2026, for both. Our guide to Yu-Gi-Oh! set release dates lists every recent set.

In Europe, Konami directs buyers to Official Tournament Stores as the best place for new products, and to retail and toy stores as well. European dates can differ: Beyond the Brave’s European release date is October 8, 2026.

What should you check before you buy a box?

  1. The kind of set. A core box, a 60-card box and an all-foil box hold different packs, so match the box to the row in the table above.
  2. The packs and cards. Count on the box or the listing.
  3. The seal. A booster box is sealed product; buy it with the maker’s wrap intact, and see our guide to storing sealed product if you keep it closed.
  4. The cards once opened. Every card in a product is in Konami’s card database, with its rarity. Our guides to spotting fake Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and checking a Yu-Gi-Oh! card’s value cover what comes next.

If you would rather buy spots in a group opening than a whole box, our guide to box breaks explains how the format works, with sports cards as its examples. The trading card hub collects our coverage of the other card games.
