Autograph card

An autograph card is a card signed by a player or another subject. The signature is written on the card itself or on a sticker that is then fixed to it.

Also called Autographed card.

In more detail

Makers produce signed cards in two ways. On a hard-signed or on-card auto the signer writes directly on the card's surface. On a sticker auto the signer signs a label, and the maker applies the label to the card after the signing.

Collectors weigh the two differently. Upper Deck's glossary calls hard-signed cards usually more favorable, since the player handled them during the signing. Autographed cards are usually seeded one or two per box, and they can rank among the most valuable cards in it.

Check that a listing says whether the signature is on the card or on a sticker, and who signed it, since the price differs.
