Wizards of the Coast told stores on September 17, 2026 that some Magic: The Gathering Reality Fracture products may reach stores later than expected, with delays that differ by region. Its notice, posted on Wizards’ site for stores, blames production and shipping issues, and an update on September 28 added details for Mexico and New Zealand.

The calendar itself stands. Prerelease ran from September 25 to October 1 and the release in stores was October 2, according to Wizards’ dates page for stores. Wizards said Play Boosters, Prerelease Packs and most Collector Boosters were on track for both. It also repeated an earlier warning that Play Boosters could be in tighter supply in North America through Prerelease and release.

Which products are late, region by region

Wizards’ notice files the affected products under five regions. The table below sets them side by side.

Region Products Wizards lists as delayed What Wizards says about timing
North America and Latin America Collector Boosters plus the Reality Fracture and Foundations Commander Decks (partly delayed); Bundles Supply may be tight through release; Bundles may arrive after release
Europe, the Middle East and Africa Collector Boosters; Secret Lair Bundle Collector Boosters tight before and through release; the Secret Lair Bundle may arrive after its own October 23 release
Japan Collector Boosters plus the Reality Fracture and Foundations Commander Decks May arrive after Prerelease
Asia-Pacific Collector Boosters, Bundles and Reality Fracture Commander Decks May arrive after the release date; Foundations Commander Decks are not affected

The September 28 update gave two countries their own notes:

  • Mexico. Every Reality Fracture product is delayed, with delivery expected in the first week of October. Events there may be rescheduled for any date from September 25 to October 15, Wizards says, using a new scheduling template.
  • New Zealand. Prerelease Packs are delayed, so the Prerelease events that stores had scheduled are canceled automatically. Stores can reschedule them for October 2 to 8. Wizards says no other Reality Fracture product is affected there.

What stayed the same

The notice does not move the October 2 release date for any region. It speaks of products arriving after that date, not of a new one. Wizards’ dates page sets Prerelease week as September 25 to October 1 and says stores in its program can begin selling products from the set during that week under its early sales policy.

One change was announced in July, well before the delays. Wizards said on July 17 that Reality Fracture is the first set without its At-Home Prerelease program. Stores can still sell Prerelease Packs to take home during early sales, but those sales no longer count toward a store’s future Prerelease allocations. Each Prerelease Pack holds six Play Boosters and an extra rare or mythic rare card, according to the dates page.

Which products are late

The delays fall mostly on Collector Boosters, Bundles and the two Commander deck products. Wizards listed Play Boosters and Prerelease Packs as on track, with three exceptions: Prerelease Packs in New Zealand, every product in Mexico, and a tighter Play Booster supply in North America. Wizards gives no new delivery dates for most regions. It says only that some products may arrive after Prerelease or after release, so a store could have Play Boosters on the shelf while its Collector Boosters were still on the way.

Wizards describes these products as delayed. That differs from the Star Trek Beginner Box, which Wizards said on September 21 it had canceled in all regions.

The Secret Lair Bundle is a separate case. Wizards gives it an October 23 release date, and only the Europe, Middle East and Africa list names it as late.

What to do

  1. If you preordered Collector Boosters, a Bundle or a Commander deck, ask your store whether its shipment has arrived and when it expects the rest.
  2. Check whether a late order is described as delayed or canceled. For products, Wizards’ notice describes delays only.
  3. In Mexico or New Zealand, ask your store for its rescheduled event dates.
  4. Before buying Collector Boosters, read our guide to Magic Collector Boosters and the glossary entry for a booster box.
  5. Keep the rest of the calendar in view with our Magic set release dates.

How we checked

The region details come from Wizards of the Coast’s notice to stores, dated September 17, 2026 and updated September 28. The Prerelease and release dates come from Wizards’ Reality Fracture dates page for stores, dated September 9, 2026, which also gives the Prerelease Pack contents and the early sales rule. The At-Home Prerelease change comes from Wizards’ note of July 17, 2026, and the Star Trek Beginner Box cancellation from Wizards’ statement of September 21, 2026. All were read on October 12, 2026.
