Hyper rare

A hyper rare is a Pokémon card rarity marked with three gold stars, introduced with the Scarlet & Violet expansion. Hyper rares are gold versions of cards from the set and come at the end of its numbering.

In more detail

Hyper rares are the gold cards of the Scarlet & Violet era. Bulbapedia notes that a card of any type except a Supporter can be a hyper rare, so the tier holds Pokémon ex and Energy cards as well as Trainer cards that are not Supporters, and it can take the place of the second reverse holofoil card in a pack. One of Bulbapedia's examples is Charizard ex from Obsidian Flames, numbered 228.

These cards close out a set, numbered above its printed total. With the Mega Evolution series a new tier took over that role for the gold Mega Evolution Pokémon ex cards: the mega hyper rare, marked with a gold star in a black border. Japanese sets mark the hyper rare tier UR.

Read the stars and the number together. The same Pokémon ex can exist in one set as a double rare, an ultra rare and a hyper rare, and each of those prints has its own price.
