Vault or ship it home? How to decide
Keep a rip site card in the vault, list it, take the trade-in offer or ship it home: how to choose, with each site's fees and deadlines as of October 2026.

Decide by what you want to do with the card, then check the site’s clock. If you plan to sell on the same site, keep the card in the vault and list it there, because shipping first adds a fee and time. If you want the site’s instant trade-in offer, take it inside the site’s window. If you want the card in your hands, ship it before the site’s deadline: Packed gives you 24 hours, and Rips by Triumph seven days. Where a site sets no deadline, as at TiltRips, you can take as long as you like.
What are the four choices?
The sites covered here offer some or all of the same four.
- Keep it in the vault. The physical card stays in the site’s vault, and your account shows it.
- List it for other collectors. You sell it on the site’s own marketplace without it ever leaving storage.
- Accept the instant trade-in offer. The site takes the card back, usually right away, for an amount in your account balance or in site credit. Our glossary entry explains how these offers are built.
- Ship it home. You ask for a redemption, pay the fee, and the card is mailed to you.
The right one depends less on the card than on the clock each site runs.
How long does each site give you?
| Site | How long a card can wait | The instant trade-in offer |
|---|---|---|
| Rips by Triumph | Seven days, then the app trades it in at its own value | The app’s own value for the card, set when you bought the pack and good for at least seven days |
| TiltRips | No deadline, and storage costs nothing | 90% of live market value, with no fee, whenever you choose |
| Drip Shop Live | As long as you like | A set offer on each card, open for 7 days |
| Packs.com | No time limit in your backpack | The card’s full value at the reveal, paid as site credit |
| Packed | 24 hours, then it is sold back for you; the vault holds 10 cards | 100% of fair market value, with no fee |
| Gotya | Until 180 days pass with no activity and at least two emails, when it can become account credit | 90% of fair market value on a graded card, 100% on a raw card |
Phygitals offers between 85% and 100% of a card’s listed value. It sets the share pack by pack and prints it before you buy, and a card you keep stays in its vault until you ask for shipping.
Shipping fees differ as much as the clocks. For Rips by Triumph’s flat fee per card and Gotya’s rates by total value, see what it costs to ship a graded card home.
How do you decide? Five rules
1. If you plan to sell, compare the offer with a listing. The trade-in is fast, but it is a share of the site’s own value for the card. A marketplace listing lets you set the price, minus any seller fee: Gotya charges sellers nothing on its marketplace, and Shiny takes 4% of a sale. At TiltRips, recent sales show on the same page as the listings, which helps you price a card. Check recent sales first with Rip.fan’s card price lookup, and see our comparison of trade-in offers.
2. If you want to keep the card, mind the clock. At Packed, a card you leave alone for 24 hours goes back to the site. At Rips by Triumph that happens after seven days. TiltRips and Drip Shop Live let a card wait, so you can ship when it suits you.
3. Clear the ID check before you need it. Rips by Triumph and Packed ask for an identity check before a card ships, and Gotya may check your ID first. On a 24-hour or seven-day clock, a slow check eats into the time you have.
4. Group cards where the site allows it. Gotya ships up to 20 graded cards for one fee set by their total value, and Packs.com ships an order of up to 50 cards for one flat fee. Rips by Triumph ships every card on its own, so each one carries its own $6 fee.
5. Check the address and the cover before you pay. At Rips by Triumph you can add insurance, and a card over a set value has to ship insured. At Drip Shop Live, cards in the vault are insured, but that cover may not reach a card’s full value, so ship a valuable card home if full cover matters to you, and add Shipping Protection at checkout for the trip.
Which choice fits which plan?
| Your plan | Best fit | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Sell soon, on the same site | Keep it vaulted and list it | The seller fee, such as Shiny’s 4% |
| Take the site’s offer | Accept the trade-in offer in time | Whether it pays to your balance or as site credit, as at Packs.com |
| Hold it for now | Keep it where there is no deadline, as at TiltRips or Drip Shop Live | The 24 hours at Packed, and seven days at Rips by Triumph |
| Display it, or sell it elsewhere | Ship it home | The shipping fee, the ID check and sales tax |
What about sales tax?
It depends on the site. Rips by Triumph takes any sales tax due from your balance before a card ships, and Packed adds sales tax to each shipment. Packs.com adds no sales tax to shipping.
Before you decide
Windows and fees change, so check the offer timer and the shipping total in your account before you decide. Our rip site rankings compare the sites here, and the Rips by Triumph review and Phygitals review go deeper on two of them. Frequently asked questions
Can Rips by Triumph give you more than 7 days?
It can. Rips by Triumph may extend the deadline, for example while you finish its identity check, and may send a push notification at least 24 hours before a card is traded in.
What happens if you add an 11th card to the Packed vault?
Packed asks you to sell one of the cards already there to make room. Its limit of 10 counts cards and any other collectibles together.
What if a Packs.com card is out of stock when you ship?
Packs.com first tries to buy the card in, so the order waits a little longer. If it can't, the card goes back to your backpack at the value it had when you opened it, and Packs.com never swaps a card without asking.
Are cards insured in the Phygitals vault?
Yes. Each of Phygitals' 3 vault partners, all in the United States, insures the cards it holds against loss, theft and damage, up to fair market value at the time of loss and within its policy limits.
How does Drip Shop Live's Auto Sellback switch work?
At Drip Shop Live, you set the switch pack by pack, not for the whole account, and turning it off takes effect from the next card. While it is on, every eligible card is sold back at once, so switch it off before opening a pack you might keep.
