The charges a rip site can add after the pack price: payment fees, sales tax, trade-in fees, seller fees, shipping and withdrawals, stage by stage.

A rip site sells real physical cards: the card you get waits in the site’s vault until you keep it, ship it home or trade it in. The pack price is only the first charge. Depending on the site and on what you do with the card, you can also pay a fee to add money, sales tax, a fee inside the trade-in offer, a seller fee, a shipping fee and a fee to move money to your bank. Several of the sites Rip.fan ranks charge nothing at one or more of those stages, so the total depends a lot on where you open and what you do next.
Which fees can a rip site charge?
| Stage | What to look for | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Adding money | A fee for paying by card | Phygitals adds a service fee to deposits and Collector Crypt to card payments, each shown on its own line before you confirm; Packs.com charges nothing to add money |
| Buying | A fee on top of the price | Rips by Triumph adds none |
| Storage | A time limit more often than a fee | TiltRips stores cards at no charge, with no deadline; Rips by Triumph holds a card for seven days |
| Trade-in offer | A fee or a share taken off the card’s value | Packed and TiltRips take no fee; Drip Shop Live’s Auto Sellback takes 12% |
| Selling to collectors | Seller and buyer fees | Gotya charges sellers nothing on its marketplace; Shiny takes 4% of a sale |
| Shipping home | A flat fee, a fee by value or a price at checkout | Rips by Triumph charges $6 a card; Gotya starts at $24.95 |
| Moving money out | Fees, minimums and holds | An instant transfer at Rips by Triumph costs at least $1; Drip Shop Live sets a 14-day hold, depending on the account tier, before deposits can go to a bank |
What can you pay before the card is even revealed?
Payment fees. Phygitals charges a service fee when you add money. Its deposit screen sets out the amount, the fee and the total on separate lines, so you see the fee before you confirm. Collector Crypt adds a service fee to card payments, on its own line between the subtotal and the total. At Gotya, a card top-up may carry a small surcharge, and bank funding is free. Packs.com charges nothing to add money.
Rips by Triumph adds no fee on top of the price.
Money you add. At Packed, money you add can only buy packs, and money from selling cards is what can be withdrawn.
Sales tax. It usually comes with shipping.
- Rips by Triumph takes any sales tax due from your balance before a card ships.
- Packed adds sales tax to each shipment.
- Packs.com adds no sales tax or handling fee to shipping.
What does it cost to keep a card in the vault?
Usually nothing. The cost is the clock. TiltRips keeps cards with its security partners at no charge until you sell, list or ship them. Drip Shop Live lets cards wait in its vault for as long as you like, and the backpack at Packs.com has no time limit.
Other sites set a deadline:
- Rips by Triumph holds a card for seven days at most, then trades it in at the app’s own value.
- Packed’s vault holds up to 10 cards, each for 24 hours, then sells a card back for you at its value.
- Gotya can turn vaulted cards into account credit at that day’s trade-in rate after 180 days with no activity and at least two emails.
Our guide to keeping a card in the vault or shipping it covers that choice in detail.
How much does a trade-in offer cost you?
The fee sits inside the offer, so read the share and any deduction together.
- Packed offers 100% of a card’s fair market value, fixed the moment it comes out of the pack, with no fee.
- TiltRips offers 90% of live market value, with no fee and no deadline.
- Gotya offers 90% of fair market value on a graded card and 100% on a raw card.
- Packs.com offers a card’s full value at the reveal, with no fee, paid as site credit.
- Drip Shop Live makes a set offer on each card, open for 7 days. Its Auto Sellback switch sells every eligible card back at once for a 12% fee, so a $10 offer leaves you $8.80.
Each site uses its own value for the card, so set the offer beside recent sales. How to judge an instant trade-in offer shows how to check one, and the glossary explains the term.
What do sellers pay on each marketplace?
Selling to another collector skips shipping, though not always a fee.
- Gotya: no seller fee on its marketplace. At its auctions, the buyer adds a 10% premium to the final bid.
- Shiny: listing costs nothing up front and the buyer pays no fee, while a sale carries a 4% seller fee.
- Packed: a card sold at one of its live auctions carries a fee, shown before you list it.
Selling a card straight from a vault covers how the money from a sale reaches your bank.
What does shipping a card home cost?
Rips by Triumph charges a $6 flat fee on every card. Each card travels on its own, so a bigger order costs card by card.
Gotya sets one fee by the total value of the graded cards in a shipment, from $24.95 for up to $1,000 of value, and up to 20 cards can travel together. The full table is in what it costs to ship a graded card home.
Packs.com ships an order of up to 50 cards for one flat fee. It costs $7.43 in the US and $29.72 anywhere else, and a card needs a value of at least $5 to ship.
Packed shows its fee in the app and adds sales tax. Drip Shop Live prices shipping by the item and where it goes, and its optional Drip Insider plan, built around shipping, costs $15 or $30 a month.

What does it cost to move money to your bank?
Money from a trade-in or a sale lands in your site balance first, and each site sets its own way out.
- Rips by Triumph: a withdrawal needs a valid photo ID and has a small minimum. An instant transfer costs at least $1, and a bank transfer takes 1 to 3 business days, sometimes up to 5.
- Packed: to a debit card, bank account, PayPal or Venmo, after an identity check. The minimum is $10, an instant withdrawal takes about 10 minutes on average, and a bank transfer up to 2 business days.
- Gotya: to a PayPal account in your own verified name, from a $25 balance, reviewed and paid within 4 to 5 business days.
- Drip Shop Live: through Stripe to a bank, after a 14-day hold that depends on the account tier, from $1 and up to $250 a day and $1,000 a week. The first withdrawal asks for ID and tax details.
- Packs.com: no withdrawals, since the balance can only be spent on the site.
What does one card cost at each exit?
The figures here are made up: each site values the same card at $100. The sums are Rip.fan’s arithmetic.
| What you do | Where | What you end up with | Fees paid |
|---|---|---|---|
| Take the trade-in offer | TiltRips | $90 in your balance | No fee, on an offer of 90% |
| Sell to a collector for $100 | Shiny | $96 | A $4 seller fee |
| Sell to a collector for $100 | Gotya | $100 | No seller fee |
| Keep it in the vault | TiltRips | The card | $0 |
| Ship it home | Rips by Triumph | The card at your door | $6, plus any sales tax |
| Ship it home | Gotya | The card at your door | $24.95 |
A sale to a collector can take time to find a buyer, while a trade-in is immediate. Each site prices cards its own way, so treat the table as a fee comparison only.
Fees change, so check the checkout screen before you pay. Our Rips by Triumph review and Phygitals review set out those two sites’ fees, our ranking of rip sites puts every site we track side by side, the glossary defines the terms used here, and how online pack opening works walks through the whole process.
