By the Rip.fan Editorial Team.
Published 6 min readFurious Fists is the August 2014 expansion of Pokémon’s XY series, the third in the series. Its UK release was August 13, 2014. The main run holds seven Pokémon-EX, two of them Mega Evolution cards, M Heracross-EX and M Lucario-EX, and both Megas come back above the printed total of 111. The set has 114 entries: 111 numbered up to the printed total, 2 numbered above it and a second M Lucario-EX entry numbered 55a.
When did Furious Fists come out?
Furious Fists reached UK stores on August 13, 2014. Pokémon announced on July 2, 2014 that booster packs and two theme decks would be in stores that day. It is the third expansion in the XY series.
Flashfire came before it, on May 7, 2014. The next XY expansion was available in the UK on November 5, 2014. Our guide to Flashfire covers the set before it, and our guide to Pokémon card eras places the XY series in the longer history.
How many cards are in Furious Fists?
The number blocks run like this:
| Numbers | Cards | What they are |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 87 | 87 | Pokémon, including 5 Pokémon-EX and 2 M Pokémon-EX |
| 88 to 102 | 15 | Trainer cards: 7 Items, 3 Supporters, 3 Stadiums and 2 Tools |
| 103 to 104 | 2 | Special Energy: Herbal Energy and Strong Energy |
| 105 to 108 | 4 | Full-art Pokémon-EX |
| 109 to 111 | 3 | Full-art versions of the three Supporters in the 88 to 102 block |
| 112 to 113 | 2 | Above the printed total: M Heracross-EX and M Lucario-EX |
A second M Lucario-EX entry is numbered 55a, with the same illustrator credit and card text as 55, which makes 114. The set has no basic Energy cards. The full-art Supporters include Fossil Researcher at 110 and Korrina at 111. The two cards above 111 are secret rares, cards whose number is higher than the set number.
How do the EX and Mega cards fit the XY series?
Capital EX cards carried on into XY, where they tied in with Mega Evolution. Our guide to Pokémon ex, EX and GX cards explains the labels, and our guide to Mega Evolution cards shows how these M Pokémon-EX differ from the Mega ex cards of 2025 on.
Which Pokémon-EX come in more than one version?
Six of the seven. Four Pokémon-EX have a full-art version, and both Mega cards have a second card above 111:
| Pokémon-EX | Main run | Full art | Above 111 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Heracross-EX | 4 | 105 | None |
| M Heracross-EX | 5 | None | 112 |
| Seismitoad-EX | 20 | 106 | None |
| Lucario-EX | 54 | 107 | None |
| M Lucario-EX | 55 and 55a | None | 113 |
| Hawlucha-EX | 64 | None | None |
| Dragonite-EX | 74 | 108 | None |
Hawlucha-EX is the only Pokémon-EX with a single card in the set. All four full-art Pokémon-EX are by Ryo Ueda, and all five Mega entries (5, 55, 55a, 112 and 113) are by 5ban Graphics.
The Lucario line is the deepest: Lucario-EX at 54 and 107, and M Lucario-EX at 55, 55a and 113. A listing titled “M Lucario-EX Furious Fists” could mean any of three entries, so read the card number before you buy.

How is the main run ordered?
By type, with Grass first at 1 to 9 and Colorless last at 78 to 87. The longest run of a single type covers numbers 44 to 64, from Machop to Hawlucha-EX: 21 numbered cards, or 22 entries with 55a. It holds three of the seven Pokémon-EX: Lucario-EX, M Lucario-EX and Hawlucha-EX. The next longest is Water, with 12 cards at 15 to 26.
Besides M Lucario-EX at 55 and 55a, two names appear on two cards each in the main run: Pancham at 59 and 60, and Clefairy at 69 and 70. On Rip.fan’s page Pancham 59 is labeled Uncommon and Pancham 60 Common, so the number tells you which one a listing means.
Where do the Fossil cards sit?
Four Fossil Pokémon of the Kalos region are new to the card game in this set. They sit in two pairs: Amaura at 25 with Aurorus at 26, and Tyrunt at 61 with Tyrantrum at 62.
The Trainer block carries two Items named for fossils, Jaw Fossil at 94 and Sail Fossil at 98, and the Supporter Fossil Researcher at 92. Fossil Researcher is one of the three Supporters with a full-art version, at 110, and both cards are by Naoki Saito.
Do other sets print cards out of 111?
Yes. Three other English sets have a printed total of 111: Neo Genesis, Rising Rivals and Crimson Invasion. A card reading 54/111 could come from any of the four, so check the set name in a listing and the set symbol on the card. Our guide to Crimson Invasion covers the Sun & Moon set that shares the total.
What products held Furious Fists?
The set came as 10-card booster packs and two 60-card theme decks, Dark Hammer and Enchanted Echo, which are sealed product. Our guide to spotting resealed Pokémon packs covers the signs of a pack that was opened and sealed again.
How do you check Furious Fists card prices?
Furious Fists has its own page in Rip.fan’s Pokémon price pages, under the XY series heading, abbreviated FFI. It lists the set’s priced cards, each with its number, rarity and NM market price. Filter it by Rare Holo EX for the seven Pokémon-EX of the main run, or by Rare Secret for the two Mega cards above 111, and sort it by name to see each Pokémon-EX beside its other versions.
For a single card, the card price lookup searches by name, set or number and shows which printing each price is for. The price changes page compares prices between Rip.fan’s weekly checks.
What should you check before buying a Furious Fists card?
- Which M Lucario-EX. Three entries carry the name: 55, 55a and 113. The card number settles it.
- The total of 111. Three other English sets share it, so read the set name too.
- The full-art version. Lucario-EX 54/111 and 107/111 are different cards. Our guide to Pokémon card finishes explains full art.
- Genuine cards. Our guide to spotting fake Pokémon cards walks through checks that leave a card unharmed.
The Pokémon hub has the rest of our coverage. Our guides to Primal Clash, Ancient Origins and BREAKthrough cover three later XY sets.
