Team break

A team break is a box break in which each spot is a team: the buyer of a spot receives that team's cards from the boxes or cases opened. In a pick your team break, buyers choose their team.

Also called Pick your team break.

In more detail

In a pick your team break, often shortened to PYT, each buyer picks a team and gets the eligible cards of that team from the whole break. Fanatics Live notes that teams are not priced alike: one with the product's top rookies or many autographs of stars usually costs more than a team with few names on the checklist.

In an assigned-team break, no buyer chooses: the teams are handed out once every spot is sold, which is why each spot costs the same. A division break gives each spot several teams at once, and a player break narrows each spot to a single player.

A team spot is only as good as that team's share of the product, so look up how many of the checklist's autographs, rookies and numbered cards belong to the team before you pay, and ask which cards the breaker ships.
