Starlight Rare

A Starlight Rare is a Yu-Gi-Oh! rarity with a grid-like holographic pattern over most of the card face, border included. In Konami's core booster sets it is offered as an extra version of some cards, beside their regular rarity.

In more detail

TCGplayer's guide to Yu-Gi-Oh! rarities describes the finish as a horizontal, lattice-like holographic pattern laid over nearly all of the card's face, the border included. That coverage sets it apart from the Prismatic Secret Rare, which has a similar grid on the artwork only.

Starlight versions sit beside a set's regular rarities. Konami's list for Beyond the Brave, a 100-card set that launched on October 9, 2026, gives 50 Commons, 26 Super Rares, 14 Ultra Rares and 10 Secret Rares. It then lists 20 additional cards available as Starlight Rares, plus 5 available as both extended art Ultra Rares and Starlight Rares.

A card can be printed in several rarities, and each printing has its own look and its own price. Match the set code and the rarity when you buy, and check the finish in photos, since the grid pattern across the border is what marks the Starlight version.
