Card pool

A card pool is the list of cards that can still come out of a pack or a set of packs. On a rip site it is published as a checklist and changes as packs are opened.

Ripping sites
How a card pool reads A checklist of cards in three groups, one row struck through where a card has left the pool. Grouped by tier; A card leaves the pool: The list changes as packs are opened; Every card a pack can still hold. Every card it can still hold Grouped by tier A card leaves the pool The list changes as packs are opened

In more detail

On a rip site the pool is the full list of cards a pack can hold. Fanatics Collect compares its checklist to the menu for a pack: every card in the pool is listed, along with how the cards group into tiers, so you can see what a pack holds before you buy.

A pool can shrink. When the cards come from a fixed set, each card that goes to a buyer leaves the pool, so the list and the shares in each tier can change as packs are opened. A checklist dated yesterday may not match today's.

Compare the pool with the pack price. The lowest and highest values in it, and where most cards sit, tell you more about the pack than any single card that appears in an advertisement.
