Account credit

Account credit is a balance you can spend only on the site that gave it to you. It is different from money paid to your bank.

In more detail

A rip site's trade-in offer is paid in credit. Fanatics Collect says its Instant Credit goes into your account and can be used for future purchases, so it stays on the platform instead of reaching your bank account.

That has two effects. The credit has value only where it is spent, and taking it usually means giving up the card, which goes back to the site. If you want money in your bank account, a sale on the site's marketplace is a different route with its own fees.

Treat credit as a coupon for the site. Check whether it expires, which purchases it covers, and whether it can be used on fees such as shipping, before you accept an offer that pays in credit.
