OpenThatPack review: real packs at shop prices

OpenThatPack is a nice change from sites that sell one slab a pack: real booster packs at normal prices, several cards to a pack, and a trade page that is a very cool feature.

What we found in our test

  • What we openedPacks on its website, each giving us several cards, just as a sealed pack does in your hands.
  • Pack pricesNormal prices for packs, which was nice for once: about what the same sealed pack costs in a shop.
  • Big-card packsA shelf of packs that hold only the bigger cards, slabs included.
  • Card tradingPick the card you want, add one or more cards from your collection toward it, and send the trade offer. A very cool feature.

How we tested

We bought and opened packs on the OpenThatPack website and looked through its big-card packs and its trade page, keeping screenshots as we went. Its trade-in offers, shipping and support are scored from what OpenThatPack publishes, next to what our screenshots show. This review is a human and AI collaboration: our own use of the site supplied the screenshots and notes, and AI wrote the review from them.

What stood out

OpenThatPack does something most rip sites don’t. Instead of one graded slab a pack, you open a real booster pack online and get several cards from it, just as you would with a pack in your hands. It was nice to pay normal prices for packs for once, even though the cards stay virtual until you decide to ship them. And its trade page is a very cool feature: choose the card you want, add a card from your collection or several, and send the trade offer.

How it works

OpenThatPack sells packs for four card games, Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, One Piece and Riftbound, and nothing else. Every card behind a pack is a physical card in its stock, and the cards you open wait in your inventory until you decide what to do with them.

  1. Sign up with one click, and add money to your balance by card.
  2. Pick a pack from the shop tab for your card game, or from its big-card packs.
  3. Open it on the website and see every card inside.
  4. Decide. Keep the cards, trade them, sell them back for site credit, or pick the ones you want shipped.

The packs

The shop has a tab for each card game, with one pack up front and the rest in a row beneath it, each with its own art and price. Every pack shows a few cards from its set, and a button beside it lists the whole set, so you can see what a pack could hold before you add it to the cart or buy it on the spot.

When we looked on November 1, 2026, Pokémon had the biggest shelf: 28 packs, from the newest sets back to older ones such as Evolving Skies and Team Up, at $4 to $40 a pack. Magic had eleven Collector Booster packs from $16 to $70, One Piece six booster packs at $7 or $8, and Riftbound four packs from $5 to $12. Those are about the prices a sealed pack costs in a shop, which is what makes the site feel different.

Its Magic, One Piece and Riftbound shops

Big-card packs

Big-card packs are the other way to open. Each one holds only the bigger cards from its set, Ultra Rare and up, with slabs among them, so there is no pile of everyday cards to sort through afterwards. When we looked there were 21 of them, all Pokémon, from $4 to $16 a pack.

Card rates

Beside every pack sit two buttons: one lists the cards in its set, and the other shows its card rates. OpenThatPack sets those rates to match a sealed pack of the same set,.

Trading cards

The trade page is where OpenThatPack stands apart from other rip sites. It lists cards you can ask for, with a filter for each card game and a sort by price. Choose the card you want, then add a card from your collection, or several, until their value covers it, and send the trade offer. A screen beside the card shows the value still needed as you add cards. It’s a very cool feature, and a better use for cards you don’t need than selling them back, since it turns them into a card you want, much like trading cards at a shop or a show.

Trade-in offers and selling

Any card you don’t want can be sold back straight away for site credit, at the price OpenThatPack shows for it. The credit buys more packs or pays for shipping, but it can’t be withdrawn, so sell back the cards you’d happily turn into more packs, and set each price beside recent sold prices first. Our guide on how to judge a trade-in offer shows how.

Fees and shipping

You add money by card, and no fee is named on buying packs or selling cards back. Shipping is free on orders over 100 credits, and a flat fee applies below that. An order with more than 50 common cards adds $0.10 for each one past 50, which only matters if you ship your whole collection at once.

Cards ship worldwide by UPS Express, tracked, insured and signed for, and arrive 1 to 3 business days after they leave. Duties, VAT and import fees are covered, so there is no customs bill at the door. Orders of up to 50 cards usually leave within 6 business days, and very large ones can take a few weeks.

Card quality

OpenThatPack promises every card Near Mint or better, which is more than a shop pack can promise. Its quality guide spells out what that means: a card may carry a few points of small wear, scored by how much of the card each mark touches, and still count. Our guide to card condition grades explains where Near Mint sits.

Support and track record

Support answers by live chat from 10 AM to 10 PM Eastern every day, or by email, and a short FAQ covers the common questions. Its oldest Trustpilot review dates from May 2025, and by November 1, 2026 it was rated 4.3 out of 5 from 17 reviews there.

What other collectors say

  • Packing and delivery. Trustpilot reviewers often say their cards came well packed, in good condition and quickly, abroad too.
  • Prices. Many find the packs cheaper than buying them locally, and like being able to sell back the cards they don’t want.
  • Selling back and shipping. A few found the price for selling back low on some cards or waited longer on combined orders, and one had a parcel go missing in transit.

Who it suits

OpenThatPack suits a collector of Pokémon, Magic, One Piece or Riftbound who misses opening real packs, wants to pay about what a pack costs in a shop, and likes the idea of trading cards for the one they’re after. Cards you sell back become credit for more packs, so it suits someone who plans to keep opening.
