How we tested

We signed up for CrownRips on our own account, opened the free Pokémon pack a new account gets and kept screenshots of its packs. Signing up took about ten seconds, and the free pack gave us a real card listed at $1.69 within a few seconds. Its card rates, trade-in and shipping are scored from what it publishes, next to what our screenshots show. This review is a human and AI collaboration: our notes and screenshots supplied the hands-on part, and AI wrote the review from them and from CrownRips’ own terms.

What stood out

CrownRips makes the first pack easy. You sign up, the free Pokémon Entry pack is waiting, and a card lands in your vault straight away. Ours was a $1.69 card, a fair result from a pack that costs nothing.

The second thing is the disclosure. Every pack shows how often each value band comes up before you buy, so you can see the shape of a pack rather than guessing at it. The third is the trade-in: any card can go back to CrownRips at the fair market value shown when it appeared, and the sale money goes to your account balance.

How it works

CrownRips sells packs of real cards on its website and in its iPhone and Android apps. Pokémon leads the store, with a general Pokémon pack, a Halloween pack and packs built around a single Pokémon such as Charizard, Umbreon and Pikachu. Beside them sit baseball, basketball and football packs, a rookie card pack, a multi-sport pack and PSA 10 baseball packs. Prices start at $1 for an Entry pack, and you can buy one at a time or up to ten at once.

Packs on the CrownRips website
  1. Sign up, and the free Pokémon Entry pack is waiting.
  2. Pick a pack and read its card rates.
  3. Open it. The card goes to your vault.
  4. Decide within three days. Ship the card home or sell it back at its fair market value.

Our guide to how online pack opening works walks through the process in general.

Card rates and what a pack holds

Before you buy, each pack shows the card maker, the series, the price, the number of cards and how often each rarity tier comes up, from Common up to its top tier, with each tier’s value band. The figures are worked out from the cards actually in stock, so they move as that stock changes. Take the panel as it reads at the moment you buy.

CrownRips keeps a record of the rates that applied to each pack when it was bought, and of what came out, for at least 24 months, and you can ask support for a copy of your own. The shuffle behind each pack goes to an independent lab for testing at least once a year. The animations on screen are decoration: the pack you choose and the purchase you confirm are what decide the card.

Trade-in offers and selling

Every card can be sold back to CrownRips at the fair market value shown when it appeared, and its pack panels put that buyback at 100% of fair market value. The sale money goes to your account balance, which you can spend on packs or have sent to your payment method. A card stays in the vault for up to three days; if you do nothing by then, CrownRips buys it back at that same value and sends a heads-up by push and email at least a day before. Set the value beside recent sold prices before you sell; our guide on how to judge a trade-in offer shows how.

Fees and shipping

You pay by debit or credit card. Selling a card back costs nothing, and any fee for shipping, or for sending money to your payment method, is shown before you confirm and does not change afterwards. A shipped card leaves within the time shown when you ask, or within 30 days, and CrownRips handles any claim with the carrier, crediting or replacing a card lost before it reaches you. Raw cards ship as they are; cards marked as graded arrive in their grading holder. Money sent to your payment method has no minimum and takes up to 10 business days, after identity checks.

Support and track record

RipsPacks, Inc., a Delaware company, runs CrownRips for US residents under long, dated terms. Support runs through a Contact Us link in the site and app, by email at support@crownrips.com and by phone on +1 (201) 535-4587, with a stated aim of answering within ten days. The iPhone app first came out in August 2026 and was rated 4.7 from 743 ratings on October 30, 2026. The Android app is on Google Play too, published by Sunflower Ltd.

What other collectors say

App Store reviewers say the app works as it should and that cards they did not expect have shown up in their orders. On Trustpilot, reviewers describe cards arriving as shipped, and a few wanted shipping to be quicker.

Who it suits

CrownRips suits a US Pokémon or sports collector who wants to open a pack for free first, likes to read card rates before buying, and is happy to sell most cards straight back at full market value or have a few shipped home.
