Rip

A rip is the opening of a pack. On a rip site you buy a pack, watch a real graded card revealed on screen, and then decide whether to keep it vaulted, ship it home or sell it back.

In more detail

Ripping a pack used to mean tearing a wrapper. Online, a rip site does the opening for you: you pay for a pack and the card is revealed on a live stream or in an app. The card is real and already stored in the site's vault by the time the reveal ends.

After a rip you have a few choices. Fanatics Collect, for example, lets you hold the card in your collection, put it up for sale on its marketplace, ask for it to be shipped to you, or take an instant credit in place of the card. Each choice has its own fee and its own clock, so read them before you buy the pack.

A rip is not a digital collectible. The card exists, the site stores it for you, and you can ask for it to be shipped to your door.
