Pristine 10

Pristine 10 is the top grade at CGC Cards, above Gem Mint 10, for a card that is virtually flawless to the naked eye with 50/50 centering, and TAG Grading uses the name for its highest grade too.

In more detail

CGC's grading scale describes a Pristine 10 as virtually flawless to the naked eye, with 50/50 centering and flawless color and registration, and reserves its Pristine label for cards that are flawless under 10-times magnification. A Gem Mint 10 is a 10 that misses the Pristine standard on one of the criteria.

Every Pristine 10 gets a special label of its own, which CGC's June 2023 announcement of the merger of CGC Trading Cards and CSG described as gold. The same announcement ended the Perfect 10 grade, so Pristine 10 has been CGC's top grade since the two became CGC Cards.

TAG uses Pristine 10 for its own highest level. Front centering generally cannot exceed 51/49, and back centering 54.5/45.5 for sports cards or 52/48 for TCG cards, with surface, corners and edges virtually flawless. The name means different standards at each company, so read the company as well as the grade.
