Young Guns

Young Guns is Upper Deck's name for the rookie cards in the base set of its Upper Deck Series hockey products, which an Upper Deck article calls the company's most popular rookie cards.

Also called Young Guns rookie card.

In more detail

Upper Deck's 2025-26 Series One holds the first 250 cards of that season's base set: 198 veterans, 49 Young Guns and 3 checklists. In the 2026-27 Series 1 checklist the Young Guns start at card 201 and are listed at 1:1 in hangers and 1:2 in tins.

An Upper Deck article published in October 2016 says the NHLPA has a rule that no player can appear on a card until he has made his NHL debut, which leaves Upper Deck just under five weeks to create its Young Guns.

The same 2016 article says Upper Deck typically splits its rookies across Series One and Series Two, and that year it described Young Guns Canvas cards as more rare than the standard Young Guns, printed on a canvas-like paper stock. Name the series, the season and the card number when you buy, since each season has dozens of Young Guns.
