Buylist
A buylist is a shop's list of the cards it wants to buy and the price it will pay for each, by condition. Sellers pick cards from it, send or bring them in, and the shop checks each card before it pays.
Also called Buy list.
In more detail
A buylist works like a shop in reverse: you add cards to a cart and sell them to the store. An Ottawa-area store says its buylist prices are what it pays for a card in a given condition, that it takes only English cards and that staff confirm each order by hand before you send the cards.
The store grades your cards when they arrive. It treats every card as Near Mint by default and can downgrade or reject one that is not: non-foil cards drop to 84% of the listed value at its SP grade or 68% at MP, and foils below Near Mint are rejected.
Some shops set their buylists with software rules. TCGplayer's BinderPOS lets a store set a cash percentage and a store credit percentage of a card's value, cap how many copies it will stock, and leave sealed product out. TCGplayer stopped taking new submissions to its own Trade-in/Buylist program on July 17, 2024.
