How Phygitals and Rips by Triumph differ
Their trade-in offers rest on different numbers. Phygitals offers a share of each card's listed value, the share changes from pack to pack, and it sits on the pack page before you buy. Every offer we were shown matched it. Rips by Triumph offers the whole of the value its app puts on the card, and Triumph sets that figure itself, so look up recent sales of a card that matters to you before you accept.
Holding cards is where they part most. Phygitals will keep a card in its vault until you ask for it, and its service fee comes when you add money. Rips by Triumph sends each card in its own package with its own shipping charge, and a card left sitting in the app gets traded in for you. That charge on every package is the figure to think about before you ship a pile of cards.
Most of our opening has happened in the Triumph app, more than 4,000 packs against 599 on Phygitals. The opening scenes kept those long sessions lively, and Triumph's perks program hands a regular buyer something back. We missed having anything like it on Phygitals.
Someone who wants to hold cards for a while and ship on their own schedule belongs at Phygitals. Rips by Triumph fits a buyer who opens a lot, enjoys the show and sends the keepers home right away.
