How Rips by Triumph works, step by step

How the Rips by Triumph app works, step by step: choosing a pack, opening it, weighing its trade-in offer and getting your card shipped home fast.

Step by step

  1. Start in the app

You buy packs in the Rips by Triumph app, on your own account. We used its iPhone app in our test.

  2. Choose a pack

Pick a pack in the app's store. Its store page shows the pack, the lowest and highest card value it can give and a link to what is inside, so read it before you pay. You can pay by credit card or from your account balance.

  3. Open it

Open the pack. On rip sites the card is assigned when the purchase goes through, and the opening only shows it. In our test the card showed as soon as its pack opened, and the two cards in our app screenshots were raw.

  4. Weigh the trade-in offer

The app offers to buy the card back at its own value, set when you buy the pack. In our test the offer matched the value the app showed for the card.

One way leads to the trade-in offer, the app's own value for the card, set when you buy the pack. The other way is to turn the offer down, and the card stays in the app for now. 5. Ship it within seven days

A card can stay in the app for at most seven days before the app trades it in at its offer, so ask for shipping within the week if you want the card.

At most seven days in the app, then traded in A strip of seven calendar pages, one for each day a card can stay in the app. From within them, a line leads to asking for shipping. From the last of them, a line leads to the card being traded in at the app's own value. 6. Ask for shipping

Cards ship to US addresses, one card to a package, with a tracking number, and never on Saturdays or Sundays. In our test each card carried a $6 flat shipping fee, which you can pay from your account balance.

  7. Track it home

We had a UPS tracking number within 2 days of asking for our cards. The app keeps a list of the cards you have had shipped, apart from those it still holds.

Rips by Triumph is an app that sells packs of vaulted physical cards you can have shipped. You choose a pack in its store, open it, and then take the app’s offer for the card or have it sent to your door.

What does a Rips by Triumph pack hold?

Each pack we opened gave one card, and a card comes either graded, sealed in a slab, or as a raw card. The two cards in our app screenshots, from a One Piece pack and a Pokémon pack, were raw, so if a graded card matters to you, check what a pack holds before you buy.

We found Pokémon, One Piece and baseball packs in the app, and it carries basketball and football packs too. Our pages on Pokémon card rips, One Piece card rips, baseball card rips, basketball card rips and football card rips set it beside the other sites we list for each one.

How do you judge its offer?

The trade-in offer is the app’s own value for the card. Before you take it, set that value beside a recent sale of the same card. Our guide to judging an instant trade-in offer shows how.

How fast does it ship?

Very fast. Our cards went by UPS, and Phygitals is the only other site we tested that shipped our cards within days. The cards we have had shipped include graded baseball cards. Our guide to shipping a graded card home covers what to check when a card arrives.

What else stood out?

The pack-opening animations are detailed, with a scene of its own for each kind of card, and the perks program is very good. Any current partner offer for Rips by Triumph is on our partner offers page.

What did our test cover?

We used Rips by Triumph in its iPhone app, on our own account. We bought packs, looked at the trade-in offer on a card and asked for our cards to be shipped. Our scores are in the Rips by Triumph review.
