Reholder

A reholder is a service in which a grading company moves a card it already graded into a new holder of its own, keeping the same grade. CGC Cards offers it for cards still sealed in their original CGC or CSG holders.

In more detail

At CGC Cards, the ReHolder service puts a card that sits in a CGC or CSG holder into a new CGC holder, and the grade does not change. The card must still be in its original CGC or CSG holder to qualify. CGC may correct clerical errors on the label while it does the work.

A reholder is not a regrade. CGC's fee page warns that a card sent in for regrading with its original label is not guaranteed the same grade, while a reholder keeps the grade as it is. It is not a crossover either, which moves a card out of another company's slab. On October 12, 2026, CGC listed ReHolder at $10 a card, with an estimated 20 working days.

CGC's grading scale page also maps older labels onto its current scale: its legacy key treats a Gem Mint 9.5 from CGC Trading Cards or CSG as a CGC Cards Gem Mint 10. After any reholder, look up the certification number to confirm the record matches the new label.
