BGS

BGS is Beckett Grading Services, the card grading arm of Beckett Media. Its slabs often show four subgrades beside the overall grade.

In more detail

Beckett Media was established in 1984 and covers the sports card and collectibles market. Its grading service, BGS, is one of its divisions, and it is the home of the Black Label, given to a card that scores a perfect 10 in every subgrade. Collectors, the parent company of PSA, announced in December 2025 that it had acquired Beckett.

Some Beckett service levels include subgrades and some do not, so a BGS slab may show four scores beside the overall grade or only the overall number. Its vintage division, for cards issued before 1981, gives an overall grade and nothing more.
