Topps has scheduled Chrome Update Series Baseball for December 9, 2026. The set adds new inserts and keeps its unique Rookie Debut Patch Autographs. Preorders were available on November 4, 2026, which was 35 days before release.
Retail boxes will have exclusive Glass Canvas inserts. Team collectors also face uneven debut patch checklists, with Miami and the White Sox leading at 13 each.
A smaller debut patch checklist
The debut patch total falls below 200 for 2026. The program began with 91 cards in 2023, followed by 251 in 2024 and 270 in 2025.
Each unique card pairs an autograph with the patch worn during that player’s first MLB appearance. The Cubs have 2 debut patches in the set.
Jacob Misiorowski is among the featured rookies after his World Series title. Other names include Roman Anthony and Munetaka Murakami, alongside Kevin McGonigle, Konnor Griffin and Kazuma Okamoto.
The checklist also includes Bryce Eldridge, with Travis Bazzana and Jac Caglianone among the other entries. Sal Stewart and Trey Yesavage add further names to the patch program.
Glass Canvas and Diamond Impact
Glass Canvas debuts with 20 players drawn from past and present teams. Its checklist includes 6 leading rookies, and the insert is exclusive to retail formats.
Diamond Impact is also new. Its 30-card checklist mixes rookies with veteran players.
Major League Minis is back, alongside Mickey and Friends inserts. Alter Ego Super Heroes also continues after its 2025 debut as a 10-card set with comic-book styling.
The broader checklist spans autographs, patches and short prints across rookie cards, veteran signatures and themed inserts.
Mets rookies and veteran cards
The Mets-linked debut patch group includes 7 rookies. Carson Benge joins Nolan McLean and Jonah Tong, while Alex Carrillo and Jonathan Pintaro also appear. Former Mets Dom Hamel and Brandon Sproat complete the group.
Benge appears on base card 87, while McLean has card 236. Juan Soto has base card 17, and Francisco Lindor appears on card 299.
The Mets base checklist also features Kodai Senga, Brett Baty and Marcus Semien. Other entries include Freddy Peralta, Luke Weaver and Bo Bichette, plus Devin Williams and Luis Robert Jr.
Image variations include Tong, Benge and Lindor, along with Soto. Soto also has a super short print and an Ultraviolet insert numbered UV-4.
Radiating Rookies includes McLean on RR-18 and Tong on RR-11. Benge appears on RR-17 and also has a Future Stars card numbered FS-10.
Shadow Etch features McLean alongside Soto and Lindor. Static Noise and Hobby Masters also include Soto and Lindor.
The Mets autograph checklist includes rookie signatures from Sproat, Tong and McLean. Carrillo and Pintaro have retail rookie autographs. Veteran names include Billy Wagner and David Wright, while Jerry Seinfeld also has an autograph card.
Shared signatures and returning themes
Triple-autograph cards are expected for most teams. A revealed combination brings Paul Skenes together with Roger Clemens and Nolan Ryan.
Dual signatures include Mike Trout paired with Ryan. Another card pairs Murakami with Ichiro, while Albert Pujols shares a card with JJ Wetherholt.
The Crawford pairing brings Carl together with Justin. Other combinations pair Cal Ripken Jr. with Pete Alonso, and Trevor Hoffman with Mason Miller.
Returning autograph themes include Lava Lamp and Autumn Ascensions. Radiating Rookies signatures also continue, alongside autographs using the 1991 Topps Chrome design.
What to do
- Check whether a preorder listing is for a hobby or retail box. Glass Canvas is retail-only, so the hobby versus retail format matters for that insert.
- Confirm that a pick-your-team break lists the team assignments for former Mets Sproat and Hamel.
- Check that listings for Carrillo or Pintaro autographs identify the retail rookie autograph version.
